I was EXTREMELY studious when I was younger. Now that I know its all lies, I don't do it anymore. Not at all. God, I thought I was the only one who wondered this.

Suraj Khan, I know your counsel wasn't for me specifically, but that is the most encouraging thing I have ever read. I really appreciated your comment. You have a PM.

What's with all the JWs unleashing the hate!?
by Julia Orwell inmost of us here on jwn, while we can get a bit narky at times, can put forth intelligent arguments and sound observations.
sure we can get bogged down with our opinions, but generally we back up our opinions with examples and evidence, and if someone has a different opinion with examples and evidence, we accept that without recriminations.
that's what adults do.. so my question is, why in the last week or so, have a couple of posters claiming to be jws come onto this forum and berated, spewed hate and judgement, and in some cases verbally attacked members personally?

SFBW, I can respect your stance on not answer a PM, but it is contradictory. Its a "sin" to communicate with an apostate in public place, and still a "sin" to communicate with one in a car, it has equal bearing. I am still in, and regardless if I finally break free, I think the hate on both sides is insane and while justified, unneeded for productive discussion. You said, " The Slave makes suggestion, and you swear it was a commandment from God Himself", but you rather purposely (troll) or subconsciously deified the slave by capitalizing it's position making it on equal standing with God. Also, it's more than a "suggestion" its dogma in which one could be expelled from his family and force a paradigm shift that is unnatural and inhumane that a lot of humans may not be able to handle. The bible says that God's true followers can be distinguished by their love, but even the World who is so debauched and horrible can see the "provision" as unloving.
I honestly want to believe this is pure worship. I want to sleep at night and know that I am doing the right thing, but I know I am not by what I have learned about this Organization (I capitalized this because I respect it's power, but not it's authority). The UN affair really got me, but the Malawi scandal tied the knot. I don't believe you are as honest hearted as you make yourself seem. I believe that you are either a troll or a moron. I tend to give a listening ear to JW apologists because it gives me faith in a lie I want to believe. It gives a differing perspective, but just somethings are undeniable.
I could be totally wrong in your motives, and I understand it is not in my place to judge them, but if you are "trolling" it is best that you do not attend this website because this forum has cathartic properties for many living in a world of irrationality as myself. If you are sincere and I am totally wrong, my apologies. If you are trolling, please leave.

Yeah, I think it is used to give "distinction" to JW's (It seems that its kind of "hipster-esque" to try to make one stand out). I really do like the new Bible translation, imo EXCEPT for a couple of changes sneakily added in. But it is all the plasticity of language that is the ultimate downfall.

HOLY SHIT, allelsefails (your name is appropriate), I will take note, thank you. Jgnat, thank you for the advice. I am just staying abreast like you said, so that I could keep on my toes with the elders. DATADOG, I am in college and I finished my community college with Honors in half the speed. Honesty, I am just trying to maintain appearances. When I see the elders in the case of apostasy, I want to outwit them with their own knowledge, if at all possible.

I appreciate all of your counsel. What I am going to do, is seriously study the July WT this month (I am an "active" witness, but I don't even "eat" the food that the Org gives. I know its rubbish, so I don't even study it very much. The whole Christendom being pure is just fallacious, amongst other things, and I am not even scratching the surface). I am very hermited, but I am also an intellectual, so I expect to be targeted, unfortunately.

DETAILS: I am over 18, but noone knows about my disillusionment. I am a very hermited person. I live with my mom for now, but that's about it. Perhaps it is encouragement. But, I hope that I don't get screwed over or something like that.

So after the annual meeting, on Sunday, the elders want to talk with my family. I do not like this one bit. Perhaps I am being exposed. I am over 18 so if I think it is apostasy, they would talk to me privately, despite me being in my mother's home. I am really freaking nervous and I do not know what to think. WHY WOULD THEY WANT TO TALK TO MY WHOLE FAMILY? Encouragement? Maybe, but they asked me to be there specifically (despite me not really having a "role" in the family, I just kind of live there). Consolation? Advice?
