  i was born into this religion.

  i was a jw for well over 30 years.

  i did much research before i had internet, i compared bibles and prayed deeply to help me to know if this was the truth.

  This is a quote from the leader of a destructive mind control cult called the Moonies. They all have eerie similar tactics and are aware of what they're doing from my perspective.

  How Far Apart Were Your Legs?

  several threads on here about the excellent bbc r4 programme this week ('the report') focussing on rape and abuse in barry, south wales, jws.

  fat pervert mark sewell later got 14 years and i hope he is enjoying every minute of it.. the courageous ladies who spoke on the programme were articulate, reasonable and made a tremendous impression.. the quote in the thread title made an impression on me, and i hope, on all listeners.. forget religious, theological, 'biblical' issues and cut to the basics.

  a rape victim was asked to demonstrate - to demonstrate, ffs - to three unqualified (middle-aged at least, presumably) men just how far her legs were apart when she was raped.. i have rarely heard anything so outrageous, and i used to investigate rape and abuse in my profession.

  My loved one, a male victim of WTS child sexual abuse relayed this information to me. The 3 elders questioning him with details of the abuse while the pedophile sat next to him was not only further traumatizing, but almost as bad as the abuse in itself. Add yet another few layers of trauma with the two witness policy after the interrogation and letting the abuser go while telling the victim they'd be in trouble for "slander" if they warn other people about it.

  It's horrifically surreal.

  Breaking news: US mass shooting

  it's getting to the point where cnn should start announcing "breaking news" if there *hasn't* been a mass shooting !.

  it's crazy.. i was watching the 70's documentary they are running and that's the point when media hype about mass serial killers seemed to begin the danger-gun-solution hype cycle.

  sure, people had guns before then but nowhere near like it is now.. when will it end?

  It's not a matter of understanding numbers or theory. It's common sense.

  A weapon can be found and used in many ways. It's the individual's state of mind behind the weapon.

  If a psychopath is that deranged and has intentions of murder, you can guarantee they'll do what ever it takes.

  Take the guns away, and we'll see other forms of mass murder. They'll just get more creative if the intent is there.

  The root cause needs to be addressed, not the tool that is used.

  Guns, are not the problem. The amount of non violent gun owners far outweigh these acts carried out by these people. Take the guns away, and a psychopath will find another weapon whether it's knives, cars, bombs, etc, etc.

  I also find it interesting that many of these people who carry out mass shootings are hooked up on some form of antidepressants or other forms of psychotic medication which have side effects of violence.

  Another thought comes to mind, how is it any different or okay for our government to use weapons to murder innocent people/children in other countries, yet on the other hand go on a gun control mission of taking guns away from citizens in our own country due to a few psychopaths who play out the same crimes as our government?

  I find it hard to believe that Terrence Howard isn't awake.

  for those who don't know, terrence howard is an actor who has had some exposure to "the truth" and has spoken positively about the jw religion in a past interview saying he would become a jw if he could.. i've started watching wayward pines where terrence howard stars as the town sheriff.

  there are some striking cult parallels between the show and some facets of jw cult culture.

  ~ people who try to leave wayward pines are subject to punishment.

  Island Man, I'm a bit confused at your statement and quite honestly it comes off as how JW's handle things within the cult when a a member openly discusses harm that was done such as child abuse. Why is it you have such strong feelings in regards towards sharing my close friend's experience with someone you do not know? He in fact was involved with a minor while lying about his age, his relationship status of being married, and cheating on both my friend and his wife with other women. Reading your reaction is a bit odd.

  Terrence Howard isn't who he says he is. On his rise to fame (not fully famous yet), he lied about his age and was involved with my underage close friend. My friend later discovered he has a wife, and was sleeping with other women.
