when you became a witness, charles taze russell might have been downplayed or exalted, depending upon who was talking about him.

What happens to old worn out Kingdom Halls?

the old hall i went too was orginally supposed to be large house, iirc.
when our congregation outgrew it, it was sold to a company next door that build coffins and caskets.

My old KH was sold just a few weeks ago - to a faith healer!
The JWs went around condemning everyone else's religion as being born of Satan but when it came to money they snatched the guy's hand off! Typical!! Hypocritical @^5$%**!!!

[SYN] is Irish!!!
by SYN inthis weekend a close relative got married, so i went along to the service, chafing at the bit the whole time i was in the church (dutch reformed, if it makes any difference).
as usual, i could feel myself getting subliminally drawn into what the pastor was talking about, although you could say i disagreed with him on some fundamental points, but yours truly kept quiet as he was sitting next to his grandfather .
personally i always thought i was 100% dutch.

Assault
by A Paduan inin a lecture on law today i was told that in our state "assault" includes restricting someone's freedom - and freedom to move about as they please - effected by any methods of intimidation or fear.
i wonder how some 'religions' measure up on that one.

quick intro

i'm not a jw nor have i ever been.
i grew up in a christian home and was always told not to accept flyers or magazines from jw's.

A couple months ago I met a JW online. ......... We have tons in common and I won't deny that we both have feelings towards eachother.
No offence, but if you've never met this person you can only be infatuated with him (with his comments, actually). You have absolutely NOTHING in common with this guy, believe me. He has a closed mind, yours is open - keep yours that way!
This forum is full of exJWs who have been pained beyond belief by a religion that purports to be Christian. Your "boyfriend" is a part of that system and is, therefore, dangerous - without his even necessarily realising it.
Sorry, but unless your friend is willing to get out of the Borg find yourself a nice, worldly guy who'll take you for what you are and who won't try to impose his views on you.
