Working as an attendant at a DC, I was asked to help mop the floors during the baptism. An elder came and snatched the mop out of my hands says attendants don't mop floors. My response? "I'm sorry. I didn't know I was above the privilege. Jesus wasn't above washing the feet of his apostles. How is this any different?" I continued to mop the floors.

During a drama a number of our sisters were told that there shirts were too low and showing too much skin. Not one sister was wearing a blouse that revealed any cleavage. It was too low only because the blouse didn't come all the way up to the neck.

Favorite or Follow A Thread
by pronomono ini know there is a feature that allows you to view threads that you start and threads that you have posted to.
it would be nice to have a feature where you can "favorite" or "follow" threads and view these in a similar way to threads that you have posted to or started.
i've been told that i'm blind as a bat.. i see a lot of people making single posts that say "marked", and am assuming they do this so that they can follow the thread as a thread they have posted to..

Well, since you mentioned it...... having a view to show posts since the last time I looked at a thread would be nice too.
Is the bookmark a global bookmark (similar to a sticky on other forums), or would this be a personal bookmark? I'd prefer a personal bookmark, if possible.
Thanks for all your hard work, Simon.

If you want to show a JW some of the older publications from a non-apostate and 'safe' website..
by The Quiet One in"it is appreciated that these documents do not reflect the current understanding of the bible enjoyed by jehovah's witnesses, and for up-to-date information the reader is encouraged to visit the official site of the watchtower bible and tract society.".

I also use http://www.a2z.org/wtarchive/archive.htm . It has older documents available in a more "portable" format.
Good find on Strictly Genteel, though. I'll definitely be using it.

Have you read C.T. Russell's controversial view of "new light"?
by Island Man in"if we were following a man undoubtedly it would be different with us; undoubtedly one human idea would contradict another and that which was light one or two or six years ago would be regarded as darkness now: but with god there is no variableness, neither shadow of turning, and so it is with truth; any knowledge or light coming from god must be like its author.
a new view of truth never can contradict a former truth.
new light never extinguishes older light, but adds to it.

Awesome find. I just told my wife this a couple of weeks ago. Of course, it was my own thinking. Now I have a Watchtower to back me up.

New Understanding of this Generation
by pronomono inanother tidbit of information about this generation from the 1/15/2014 study edition under "let your kingdom come - but when?".
they've changed it again.. this generation will not pass away14-16.
what is a third reason for believing that gods kingdom will come soon?.
-

So now apparently this generation is comprised of two groups. The original generation (alive and annointed during Christ's kinging in 1914) and a second generation that was annointed while the first generation was alive. This second generation is the "real" generation that won't pass away.
You can't make this stuff up. :)

THIS GENERATION WILL NOT PASS AWAY
14-16. What is a third reason for believing that God’s Kingdom will “come” soon?
14 There is yet a third reason for confidence. What has developed among God’s people points to the nearness of the end. For example, prior to the establishment of God’s Kingdom in heaven, a group of faithful anointed ones were actively serving God. When some of their expectations about what would happen in 1914 did not come about, what did they do? Most of them proved their integrity under trials and persecution and kept right on serving Jehovah. Over the years, most—if not all—of those anointed ones have faithfully completed their earthly course.
15 In his detailed prophecy about the conclusion of this system of things, Jesus said: “This generation will by no means pass away until all these things happen.” (Read Matthew 24:33-35.) We understand that in mentioning “this generation,” Jesus was referring to two groups of anointed Christians. The first group was on hand in 1914, and they readily discerned the sign of Christ’s presence in that year. Those who made up this group were not merely alive in 1914, but they were spirit-anointed as sons of God in or before that year.—Rom. 8:14-17.
16 The second group included in “this generation” are anointed contemporaries of the first group. They were not simply alive during the lifetime of those in the first group, but they were anointed with holy spirit during the time that those of the first group were still on earth. Thus, not every anointed person today is included in “this generation” of whom Jesus spoke. Today, those in this second group are themselves advancing in years. Yet, Jesus’ words at Matthew 24:34 give us confidence that at least some of “this generation will by no means pass away” before seeing the start of the great tribulation. This should add to our conviction that little time remains before the King of God’s Kingdom acts to destroy the wicked and usher in a righteous new world.

Jay Leno uses this technology to produce hard to find plastic parts for his antique cars. Really, you can create anything with it that can be created with plastic - prototypes, combs, trim, even limited use guns. At least all the ones that I've seen use some type of plastic or plastic-composite material in the printing process. The printing process lays down very thin layers of the plastic material, from the bottom layer to the top. Youtube videos show the process very well.
Many of the items that are printed are first scanned in using a 3d scanner then sent to the 3d printer to be built. I'm sure that many of the 3d modeling software packages are being built to send completed models to the 3d printer for printing. To get into this, an engineering degree would help with a focus on 3d modeling. If you have these skills, you won't be limited just to 3d printing, but you will have a whole host of lucrative opportunities available to you. The first few years would be the most difficult because many jobs want you to have a certain amount of experience before they hire you into something like this.
I have no direct experience with this, but have read a few articles on the subject.
