Splash, we had no anonymity in our 'anonymous' survey too. We were asked to reply to an email or personally hand a slip to our elders. I refused to turn in a slip.

Shaving: Wet or Electric?
by FL_Panthers insomething i ponder about now and again.
i don't shave that much, maybe twice a week so it's not even a big deal, but i saw someone at the health club using an electric shaver and that got me pondering all over again.. .
i've been using mach iii recently and fairly happy with that.

I've used quite a few Remington and Norelco electric rotary shavers since I was 18. A razor blade has never touched my face. I haven't found an electric shaver that gives a good clean shave, even when using the electric pre-shave creams. So I always look like I have a 5'oclock shadow. My beard only seems to grow when I sleep at night, so my shadow hasn't ever been an issue. Consumer Reports claim foil shavers get a slightly closer shave.

Do JW Apologists "Count the time" when they come here?
by tim hooper in..and if they do "count the time", do you think that they type very slowly?.

Count time on here? It's the only time I get. I haven't been out in field service in close to a year now. The months seem to have flown by. I don't "lie" on my time sheet as "a watcher" implies. I know plenty of pioneer witnesses that count time answering questions on Yahoo. What's different about discussing the Bible on here with all you apostate non-believers? What is considered valid service time is between me and Jehovah/Jesus? In my opinion, time spent helping the elderly, sick, and poor counts as well. However, counting time in itself is another issue. I'm doing it right now purely during my fade, but I don't agree with counting time in the first place.
Also, I've talked to Jehovah about this and he didn't say that I should stop doing it. He never gave me permission either, but I assumed the silence was approval.

CONGREGATION FLEECING RESULTS?

Joe Grundy,
Taking that capital loss make sense when you look at how much they are gaining elsewhere. They're planning for the big picture. You're estimate plans for losses on individual halls. When you consider that most congregations have very little debt to the Watchtower and that with this new arrangement that almost every congregation is going to double, many triple, and others quadruple or more the donations that they were previously giving to the society, the loss on those few congregations doesn't seem so much any more. And if the congregation is following the directions, they are continuing to pay what they were before, if not more, except now there is no defined end in sight. On the books, it may look like a loss, but given a few years that one hall will become a cash cow. In the meantime, all the other halls more than make up for the deficit. Looking at some of the numbers here is astonishing to me.

The letter has been read at our hall, but we haven't made a resolution because....... our elders are busy calling each family to ask what will be donated. My wife made the comment how this was unusual and I gave a good witness to her about how she was right. I'm avoiding the subject with our elders right now. I'm always conveniently busy because I want nothing to do with this. We have a fairly big hall, so I'm interested to see what our number will be. Currently, we had been donating $50 to $100 dollars a month to the KH Fund. I'm sure this number is going to go way up. I'll let you all know what type of recourse there is, if any, for failing to provide a number.

I wonder if this whole exercise is even truly about the monthly amount. Maybe the "jig is up" and its a one-time grab of cash before they they shut the whole WT entity down. tryin to stay optimistic...
No one seemed to object or really pay attention (how can one know, regardless).
Like I said, though, the elder did seem uncomfortable- but maybe if I imaged that
It would be so easy for them to take the money and run if this is a last ditch effort. Can you imagine a letter to the BOE that reads somewhat like the following:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Brothers,
Due to an increase of persecution from local and federal governments, the Watchtower organization is forced to discontinue its operations at headquarters. As such, we will effectively be dissolved as a legal entity on such and such date. However, this does not mark an end to the preaching work. Instead, this should spur us on to even more activity as the end draws ever nearer. In agreement with the Scriptures in regard to early Christian congregations, Jehovah's Witnesses will now receive direction on the preaching work from their local body of elders. Each congregation should work closely with other congregations to ensure that the preaching work continues in an orderly manner to completeness.
May Jehovah continue to richly bless your hard work and loyal service as you generously support Kingdom interests.
Your brothers,
Christian Congregation of Jehovahs Witnesses
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Then the organization dissolves, exits stage left, and takes their money while the congregations blindly continue on believing that the end is even nearer while they are none the wiser.
This may be farfetched, but stranger things have happened.

My Experience and how I finally let myself see the truth
by OneEyedJoe infirst off - for those lurkers who feel guilty just for being on this site and reading this (even if you don't read any further, as it is your right to choose that course) i want you to know that you're not alone in what you're going through or in what you are feeling.
if you read on, i hope my experience may be of some small help to you.. this may be long, but i'll try to organize it in a way that doesn't make it painful to read.
to start, i feel it is most beneficial if i'm upfront and honest with my goals from posting this, which are (in order of the degree to which they motivated me):.

Joe, wow. Just, wow. The whole time I was reading this, I had to keep telling myself that I wasn't proofreading my own post. Your situation is exactly like mine to the tee, except I started the process about a year ago. I'm still in. I'm still learning. I've stopped going in service, but I do attend meetings regularly. I just bought Steve Hassan's latest book a week ago and it is immensely helpful. Keep us updated on your situation. I'm sure I'll find a lot of parallels between the two of us.

Electronic KMs Now Being Provided By Org to R&F?
by pronomono ini received a call from my book study conductor the other day asking for my email address so that he could start sending electronic copies of the km to me.
has anyone else received calls like this?
i've missed quite a few meeting (it's been nice) so am unaware if any letter has been read.

Yeah, I knew that the society was providing these to elders. I had to help one of our technically impaired elders get some things from the website when I was over at his house about a year ago. I was still a MS at the time, and happened to see it then, but didn't ask about it. I was more curious as to why my bookstudy overseer (I guess group overseer now) all of the sudden decided to ask me if I wanted it.
I have to say I'm pretty obvious about having it. I never bring a paper copy to the meetings. I openly look at it during meetings. They have to know that it's not officially provided to R&F except through elders and servants with access to the secure side of jw.org . I would have thought that someone would put the pieces together by now and start questioning how I have all the KMs for the meeting when I shouldn't have them.
