New David Splane Video: No 1900 Year Faithful Slave
by FusionTheism ingoverning body member david splane has a new video on tv.jw.org where he talks about all the horrible things committed by martin luther and the protestant reformers.. his conclusion is that there has been no faithful and discreet slave on the earth during the past 1900 years (before 1919 i guess.).
he also says that maybe there were a few anointed on earth, maybe not.. he did add an interesting statement that he doesn't condemn the other churches just for misunderstanding the bible because the society has done that.. another odd point, was that he actually mentioned catholic missionary work in a somewhat positive light, while totally condemning the reformation views on predestination..

So....since Wycliffe, Luther, and others were disqualified because of their belief in predestination, shouldn't the WTBTS presidents and/or GB be disqualified by their previous beliefs on 1874, 1914, 1920, changing blood doctrine, 1975, changing generation teaching, and all the other "old" light. By their definition, assuming they are 100% correct today (which we know they are not), there's only been a faithful and discreet slave for two or three years. Inconceivable! -

The real purpose probably has to do with money. Brooklyn has become a very expensive place to live. They make a ton of money off the sale of the Brooklyn facilities, move upstate to Warwick where its cheaper, still have money left over from the Brooklyn sale, and now they can get by on less donations from the R&F. Not to mention, they bought a large forested area, where they can turn it into their little paradise, separate from the temptation of the large city. It's sad because Warwick has a unique cultural history that a big corporation coming to the city would upset. I guess money talks though. -

What are you gonna do when the existence of god is disproved?
by Doltologist inin 1897, j.j. thomson discovered the electron.
this was the first constituent part of the atom which, for 2,000 years, was thought to be indivisible.
today, we know of 18 elemental particles following the recent discovery of the higgs boson, the so-called god particle.. back in 1897, most people believed in god because there weren't even any theories as to how the universe came into being.

God's silence is proof enough for me. Although, it's not substantial scientific evidence, it's all I need. I remember about a year ago, after dealing with a year's worth of cognitive dissonance, the thought that I could be losing everyone I love at a moments notice, and the knowledge that I had been lied to so much in my life in regards to the "Truth", I broke down into intense prayer and meditation calling out to Jehovah in my mind....... Silence ........... Repeatedly I prayed to him intensely........ Silence. Finally, I said "F%@K this! F%@K YOU, JEHOVAH. Curse you and die! Right? If you're not going to help me, then f%@king kill me like you said you would in the Bible.".......... Silence.
It was at that moment when I hit rock bottom that I realized I was alone in the universe, that there was no God, at least for me. Once I came to that realization, a deep peace settled in on me like nothing I ever experienced in my life as a JW. It was that moment that helped me come to terms with my own mortality. And it was that moment that helped me come to terms with the eventuality that I'll most likely lose everyone I love in the near future because of my views.
I'm not saying that my views are the correct ones. I'm open to changes of viewpoint and increases in knowledge, even if it leads to the exact polar opposite of what I once believed. That's where I am now with the belief in the existence of God, from one extreme to the other. But that's enough for me.

Sort of like the "See you in paradise posters" everyone holds up at the international conventions.... It'd be a small step up to sporting events. -

Preparing for Governing Body 3.0? Making older GB step down? (New September Watchtower)
by FusionTheism inwatchtower, study edition, september 2015, "are you reaching the stature that belongs to christ?":.
paragraph 6: the mature christian shows humility in that he recognizes that jehovahs ways and standards are always better than his own.
[footnote: for example, older, experienced brothers may be asked to step aside from certain responsibilities and to lend support to younger brothers as they take on those responsibilities.].

Does What We Say Here Or In Person Really Help JWs To Get Out Of The Religion?
by minimus inif we are in the congregation, do you think our comments or questions actually reach elders or others in the congregation?
do our comments on this board affect witnesses to the point of questioning their faith?

Yes! This site helped me immensely. In the order of help, Ray Franz's two books were the most influential, followed by JWFacts, and then you guys. No offense, but from years of mental conditioning I just didn't trust you but I was willing to peer in with my guard up to do an honest investigation. Aside from the occasional troll, I found you to be legit and rational. Terry's massively long posts helped me out more than he'll ever know. (So thanks Terry for helping free my mind.)
Currently, I still have one foot in the door, but the rest of me is out. This year, I've only had to sit through three meetings and a one day assembly and no service. I haven't really received any pressure from the elders for this year. My fade is going strong, but I'm still waiting on the fallout from when the rest of my friends and family realize how bad (or good) it's become. The only one that knows is my wife, and she's been silently supportive, missing all the meetings and service I miss. I guess now it's been close to a year and a half since I've knocked on a door.

by DATA-DOG ini was just curious if anyone has had their "special" convention.
is it uber-watchtarded or just the normal propaganda, followed by the solicitation of funds??.

I've had mine. I went with my wife because she wanted to go (I think mainly for friends and family). Nothing stood out to me, but I was able to tune most of it out. Nothing fancy. No audio recordings. No video. Seemed just like an assembly from the old days, except only two people got baptized, down from our usual dozen or so. Content-wise, I wasn't mentally there so I can't help. I just kind of drifted on through. I do remember laughing my ass off at one demonstration where this young worldly girl (12 or so) asks out our JW brother and he goes into this uber-mature JW answer about how he doesn't date until he's ready for marriage. A little 12 year old speaking a canned script that sounded like something that would come out of a old person's mouth. Best laugh I'd had all day because of how ridiculous it was. -

Isn't this stuff technically still 'doctrine?'
I would say yes. I've never seen "new" light on the subject, and it's still available on the WT Library. The rest of the article is just as ridiculous.
.......... This explains so much. Lol
