Sun newspaper writes about Witness paedophile scandal

it isn't much, only a small piece on page 23 of sunday's sun newspaper .

for our colonial cousins the sun is a highbrow , well respected national daily newspaper , well national daily anyway .

on sunday it printed a small article about what it describes as a jehovah's witness paedophile whose sex crimes had been hushed up by his church .

I know this fella. I can't believe what he has done. IF HOLY SPIRIT IS INVOLVED IN APPOINTING MINISTERIAL SERVANTS, HOW THE HELL DID THIS MAN EVER ENTER THIS ROLE?? HE WAS ONLY APPOINTED A FEW YEARS AGO!

after being a witness for 40 years, i now find myself disfellowshipped.. i have had a number of doubts for a few years now, but still feel as if i'm living my life in the "t minus " to armageddon spector.. my parents are in their 80's and my dear mother is in very bad health.

i was allowed to pop through - about once a month to make sure my parents were ok and for them to see their grandchildren.

this all ended after the july watchtower article and especially since the district convention - with all the "counsel" on associating with disfellowshipped family members.. around 6 weeks ago, my dad asked me point blank why i wasn't trying to get reinstated.

It is very sad because I do love my father very much. He is in turmoil over this.

He has always been balanced and this behaviour is totally out of character. It all started after the latest articles about disfellowshiping, which clearly state "not to even send an email!" ... If you can't do that, we'll how can we have you in the house??

BECAUSE MY MOTHER IS DYING AND YOU CAN'T COPE!!!!

I do appreciate that members of the congregation cannot just do what they want, and I have made mistakes. But these articles in the watchtower leave no room what so ever for common sence.

I have found out that my mother is not eating, due to an urine infection. I got my wife to call this morning and he admitted that he is struggling, but coping! I know that 95% of this is my mother being worried sick about "the situation " (me being disfellowshipped) and them wanting to be "obedient to Jehovah".

My wife has tried calling many times before and just gets stone walled "everything is fine..... You see, it's scriptural, your husband knows what he has to do" which just infuriates her.

i do know that the elders know what is going on and they have assured me that this is not balanced behaviour, and they are going to pay them another visit.

I mean, if she is not eating or drinking, she will be dehydrated which will be making the matter worse. I'm going to go through this afternoon regardless. This is beyond the joke!

Hi splash, ..... And I thought it was me that was the apostate! Even that drives me mad. Apostate. Brains are allowed to think, ask questions and expect reasonable answers, especially where your religious faith is concerned. I do believe that there is a lot of things that the witnesses teach are true. But when my dad asked me if I accepted EVERYTHING the "faithful slave" teach, i am afraid I don't. This organisation has changed so much in the last decade, especially since Dan Sidlick died and John Barr. It really does come across as being a corporation, which to me is a crying shame!

There are many dear, faithful people in that organisation. Real genuine people. But sadly, like Dan Sidlick, the old style "Dutch uncle" - 3 sheparding visit per year elders are dying off and being replaced with MS training school - facts and figures - watchtower men - zealots, who are simply "not shepherding the flock with kindness". And I fell fowl of these time and time again.

I am still hurting very much from past dealings with this type and am not ready to even think about going back. But if I am left alone to figure things out and get my head right, I very well might do! BUT BLACKMAILING ME WITH THE CHOICE OF NEVER SEEING MOTHER, FATHER OR BROTHER AGAIN UNLESS I "REPENT" IS NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS RIGHT. Surely I cannot be expected to go back under circumstances like that.

I spoke to a dear friend who I've known for years (a very genuine, what I would have called a true JW) and he updated me on this. He says he's going to try and work on my dad and make him see sence. But how what do you think the atmosphere will be like if I do go around ?

UPDATE: The local elders have called in to see my parents. They basically said that, due to the circumstances of them being in poor health etc, it was more or less my Christian duty to call in to see if they are ok. As long as we kept off the subject of religion. However, since those black and white, no grey areas watchtower articles came out and that bloody talk from the DC, my DAD SAYS THE ELDERS ARE NOT FOLLOWING WHAT THE SOCIETY SAYS! The elders have said I have to respect HIS CONCIENCE!!!
