Transfer of Bank Balances and Kingdom Halls.

two things related to ongoing comments regarding forgiving of loans / transfer of balances to the wtbs and the ownership of kingdom halls.

firstly, i would argue that congregations don't care that bank balances have been transferred to the society.

i would contend that people contribute to the preaching work, and that's it , so long as there is enough in the bank to maintain the hall with a reasonable reserve, then i doubt many would argue against it.

@stgeorgeofengland, OK, they use a custodian trustee mechanism, widely used by lots of charities.

but why would the individual charities ever believe they own their own churches anyway?

You make a valid point. The point of contention for most regarding this subject is the lack of transparency in the ownership of the KH's. Locals build them, maintain them, and pay for them and now locals will continue to pay, pay, pay for them. I don't think anyone has a problem with a monthly payment but at some time in the future if you are paying for something, you somehow expect to own it.

Say it like it is, Local congregations of JW's are just leasing the building that they assume is THEIR local KH until the LEGAL owners (wtbts) decides to sell/remodel it and/or send the locals to another location!

The end game by the wtbts is to OWN all the KH's and then 'lease' them out to the individual congregations by way of a monthly obligatory, "voluntary donation". That way the wtbts has a 'fixed', steady flow of income from the sheeple without them even knowing what's up. Gotta keep that super charged chariot running!

since the overlapping generations doctrine was introduced, i have found the jws i know to be uncharacteristically silent on the subject.

i can't remember hearing a single dub try to defend this idiocy.

but that all ended recently.

You can't reason with the unreasonable, you can't teach the unteachable, and you can't defend the indefensible. Actually, the only thing overlapping about the 7 G.O.D.'s (guardians of the doctrine) is their belly overlapping their belt!

There's a lot of discussion going on in our area about financial transparency within the wtbts even among 'long time' dubs. People want to know WHY the "expenses" of a one day assembly have tripled in the past 7 years!

I just tell them that "the love of money is the root of all evil" and leave it at that.

Recently a young brother and sister, who attended the "school for kingdom evangelizers", were reassigned by the branch from 'preaching' to doing the LDC thing! Local Design and Construction. They have been traveling throughout California conducting 2 day seminars at various KH's to help train brothers how to better maintain KH's. According to them, the main thrust of the training is to help the locals understand how better maintenance will extend the life of a KH. For instance, according to the information that they shared with us over a nice dinner, by extending the life (or even the need to remodel) a KH for just one year will save the organization about $80 million a year.

So the maintenance of KH's is now being taken over by the branch and will not the sole responsibility of the local congregation. Less time in preaching and more time maintaining the physical assets of the borg! Big brother is coming to help!

I couldn't take it anymore, although still in because of my wife, I did this...

i dressed up in a hoodie, double layer so that the cameras at the kingdom hall couldn't recognize me.

i looked in the mirror up and down so i knew that the cameras, at least at the angle that i knew couldn't see my face.

i took this disassociation letter, stuck it in the envelope, labeled it, "(congregation's name...boe" by hand and sealed it.

I absolutely love the idea of being able to get up in front of the congregation (talk or other meeting part) and publicly denouncing the borg and disassociating oneself. I see this happening soon as more and more start seeing thru the bs. Like LTPF, my wife is still in so I won't do it due to the harm it would cause her. But, god I'd love to go up there and announce that after 60+ years as a dub---I'm done! As well known as I am in these parts, people would shite themselves!
