I will admit that the wt society did help increase the desirability of the Brooklyn Heights area. They showed how run down property in that neighborhood could be restored. After all, the labor was basically free so why not?

Show up and endure the next 1-2 hours of utter non sense trying to avoid anyone that really has a real question! It's only important to show up which makes a pretense of righteousness!

Even during my 50 plus years as a true blue dub, I always enjoyed this time of the year. Contrary to what we were suppose to believe about people being angry ans selfish during the holiday season, I found it to be the complete opposite. It's a time for family and time off work. What could be better?
Oh yea, getting ready for a jw convention. Oh what joy!
Back to reality, I wish all a happy, loving, and prosperous fest of your life!

JW's have a little brown book of 'canned responses' and even "practice sessions", (so to speak), on how to refute anything negative about the wtbts. The book is "Reasoning from the Scriptures" (lol). Having a "canned reply" makes them feel like they have done something so truly wonderful. They have defended the troof! How do I know?

New KH being built near where I live
by A Believer inthere are two kingdom halls in two parts of the county i live in.
one is smaller and their are already about to begin work to replace with a new one.. just posting because i noticed posts saying their wasn't new khs being built.
and i learned this today from someone..

In the small town of Chowchilla, CA they will soon be building a "new kh". It will replace the basically "new kh" that already exists on the property. 'Apparently', or 'clearly' the RBC did a poor job of checking out the building site. They built a "quick build" kh on an abandoned landfill about 5-6 years ago. lol The existing kh and parking lot have since partially caved in. What a fiasco for those poor brothers in Chowchilla!

wt teaches a generation that dies, ends, passes away, at the first sign of real trouble, the great tribulation.. what do you believe about this wt assertion?

Village Idiot: It is not the "overlapping" that is wrong, it is idiotic of course.
I started my neatly trimmed goatee a few months ago after that ambiguous WT on beards etc. Had not too much flack from anyone at the kh. Last week a couple of brothers stopped by to encourage me since I am inactive. They commented on my goatee, referring to it a beard. I told them to think of it as just an "overlapping mustache". There was an uncomfortable laugh by them because what I said was stupid but then again there were no further comments on the goatee.

Don't you wonder how many jw's really, honestly, truly believe in the existence of jehober? As a 5 decade jw, I certainly had my doubts, for the many reasons expressed in this post, and eventually those doubts helped me see reality. He exists in Hebrew mythology but not in Human reality!

In my first stint as an elder, when the 'elder arrangement' was first introduced in 1972, I was a mere 24 years old. I was "appointed by holy spirit" as an elder because there were only 3-4 men in the congregation that could even give a coherent talk to the congregation. lol
i.e. elder by default
In my second stint as an elder, I truly believed that I could do some good in the congregation and could help the young people find god. lol
i.e. elder by good intention
In my third stint as an elder, I wanted to be a voice of reason on a body of men that thought they were actually "appointed by holy spirit". lol
i.e. elder with a real purpose in life
It's easy to appointed as an elder if you know the formula and have a few years to waste. Holy spirit (if you believe in suchan abstract concept) has nothing to do with it.
