Oh how jehober must be sooo proud of those that shun their family members and those that let their kids die for the stupid 'no blood' stance.

this poor girl was baptized at 9yo.
.
she isnt old enough to buy alcohol, to vote, to decide her own medical treatment, to buy a pet, to travel alone... yet she was deemed old enough to dedicate her life to a religion that will cut her off from her family if she ever leaves.. here she is applauded for shunning her own sister who tried to keep in contact with her after waking up.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0yzgnfda8ki.

jehovah’s witnesses and the picnic extinction.
(“those were the days, my friend, we thought they’d never end…”).
it was another world back then; another time and another place.. you had to have been there to have any sense of it--as a young, impressionable jehovah’s witness under the watchtower presidency of nathan h. knorr--social gatherings (backyard bbq’s, swimming parties) among the ‘friends’ consisted of having a great time at a get together or a picnic.
Terry,
The more I read your postings, the more I realize that we have so much in common. I lived in southern California during the 60's and 70's. I wish we could have met up when you lived in Redondo Beach. I lived in Whittier, just a short drive down the 91 freeway. I spent a good deal of my 'non-jw' time surfing. Huntington Beach and south were my favorite spots. Surfed Manhattan Beach a few times. What brought you to southern California?

i have noticed, from reading posts on this and other related websites, what to me is an alarming practice taking place within the jw's.
and that is the baptism of kids.. on a recent discussion posted by pe ( video of the girl now forced to shun her sister) this child was baptised at 9 years old.
all of us who were baptised at a much older age know of the many questions one needs to give serious consideration and understanding of to become eligible for baptism, not to mention the two baptism questions asked before being dunked.. surely the organisation must know that children of such a young age are not mature enough to fully grasp the seriousness, demands and consequences of making such a decision.. another point; if jesus is the example to follow, then why did he only get baptised at age 30, and he was perfect!.
If kids are "qualified" be baptized at 8 or 9, why wouldn't they be "qualified" to be elders at 18 of 19? It's the same ridiculous reasoning isn't it?
As I used to argue when I was an elder (and refused to go over the "pre baptism" questions with kids), "Please, brothers, show me one example in the Scriptures where a 'young man or virgin' was baptized! The only references I can find were 'men and women' being baptized!"
I got a lot of heat for stance on baptizing kids!

Hi Terry,
We have a lot in common including our age, our jw past, and our non jw present. I did my 2 years time for 'draft evasion' also. However, I was married. My wife wavered a bit during my incarceration but we are still together (51 years). I'm sure it was very hard on her to be a beautiful 20 year old being 'hit on' everyday at work during the sexual revolution of the late 60's.
You tell a very beautiful and colorful story of yesteryear. It took me nearly 55 years to learn ttatt but it's never tooo late to start living.

Ah yes, Terry, the memories of growing up in cult culture! I was a teen in the middle and late 1960's in California. Your post rang a very familiar bell.
I wonder if I ever ran into you at parties in the LA area in the mid-late 60's. I was mostly in the Whittier, Huntington Beach area.

61-62 jesus christ - "they [1st century christians] recognized him as their lord........because of his kingly position and authority.
it was in the full regal as well as priestly authority represented by jesus’ name that his followers preached.....to the “name” of this divinely commissioned king, the lord jesus christ.
Jesus; "WTF dad, when am I actually going to become King? All these damn dates for me to start ruling even have me confused!"
Jehober; "Wait on jehober"! " Sooooooon" "It's just around the corner". Now do you understand son?"

no one doubts jesus extensively spoke about god’s kingdom because he said: “i must proclaim the good news of the kingdom of god to the other towns also, because that is why i was sent.” (luke 4:43) yet christian sects are divided over the subject whether jesus used god’s name or not.. it is said that god’s name jehovah was revealed to moses.
however jesus knew moses was not trustworthy.
(mathew 19:8) moses born and brought up in egypt could have been influenced by egyptian knowledge.
How many 'real' people call their father by their name? Dad, daddy, poppa, even father, but not yhwh! Or maybe he didn't know exactly how to pronounce it either!
Or, it just wasn't that important to him.

i was wondering if someone could help me with a question.. i am a rookie exjw, i only left the organization 4 months ago and everything i've discovered (un/arc/malawi/mexico etc) i've only discovered in the last few months so you can image it's been a huge shock to me especially after after 50 yrs!.
every time i think i've heard everything, something else pops up.. now i've come across a youtube video that mention tv evangelizer jimmy swaggart and the watchtower.
i remember jimmy swaggart from the time i lived in the u.s.a and i remember the scandals with him and prostitutes etc.
This is a tid bit that I once heard from an old brother who was a witness throughout the Rutherford era. Maybe others have heard this as well.
In the 30's J B Rutherfraud, Franic Freddy, and company subtly allowed jw's to officially be recognized as a "religion". Remember that he used to rant and rave how that "Religion is a snare and a racket". For many years the wtbts was chartered as a 'bible educational Society', not wanting to be recognized as a "religion" because religion was "bad" in god's eyes. But in the 30's the U.S.tax laws changed regarding many tax exempt organizations. "Religious organizations" however, maintained their tax free status. Thus jw's became a "religious organization".

i wanted to get people's opinion on something.
how do you feel when people use illegal means while performing their activism to shed light on the watchtower.
there have been people who have illegally recorded conversations with elders and with branch offices or at meetings.
All is fair in love and war and it's "spiritual warfare"--right?

"Remember the LIFE of Lot"
What a rotten, incestuous bastard he was. How he offered his 2 daughters to be mauled by a sex depraved crowd how he banged his 2 daughters.
Yes you christian fathers, "Remember the LIFE of Lot!"
