if you believe humans evolved, and were not created, why would having a hymen help, especially as no other mammal has one?
if you believe humans were created by {a} god, or intelligent beings with advanced technology, what was the reason for a hymen?
i'm interested to hear your thoughts on this unusual subject, not many people talk about..

as shepherdless pointed out on another thread, the watchtower business model of using free labour to produce and sell books and magazines for profit started to break down when charging for the literature ended in 1990, and has now begun disintegrating completely in the face of the internet and declining donations.
over this same period there has been a noted increase in hardline rhetoric on disfellowshipping and pushing early baptism.
might these hardline trends actually be related to their money woes?
Everything about the Watchtower has taken a DARK turn--IMHO! But then, I've only been associated with the borg since 1951.

I don't know about the hymen but have always wondered why men have foreskin. More importantly, why did jehober want the foreskin cut off? It's kind of a sick ritual--right?

soooo... i think the main strength of this group is having the finances to keep this con game going.
i'm hoping that the pedophilia cases are draining them dry so we can be rid of this stumbling block from an organizational stand point.
how is the constant surge of bad news getting out on them effecting the everyday person in this organization?
When the product that you 'sell' is no longer in demand, business dries up and eventually disappears. No wonder the WT for years vilified the internet. It slowly killed their printing business and they haven't figured out a way to capitalize on free information.
Their situation was predicted at Revelation 18:11
11 “Also, the merchants of the earth are weeping and mourning over her, because there is no one to buy their full cargo anymore,"

from interview magazine, in october.
she has a new memoir, should be a good read.. [bold is mine, and yes!
to whole thing, and especially the last sentence.].
Seems like a quite a few ex-jw's became famous musicians. Poor kids, they must have had "spiritually weak" parents!

i was listening to beyond belief yesterday, a radio 4 programme that treats religious ideas as worthy of consideration and discussion.
yesterday they were talking about belief in the afterlife.
they mentioned something i'd never heard of before.
In those days, silly religious ideas sold. Today it takes naked women to sell something!
I'm content with today's marketing!

it seems like the watchtower is still encouraging "theocratic warfare".
in the no.1 watchtower of 2016, they (ironically) printed an article on honesty.here is something they said:"lyingwhat is it?
saying something false to someone who is entitledto know the truth.
"What is Truth?"----asked Pilate of Jesus, right? If that same question were asked of the current GB, they'd answer, "Whatever we want it to be!"
Also don't forget to add the word 'soooon' to the new WT dictionary!

on another thread shepherdless sketched out the past business model of jws and its demise.
until 1990 they were a straightforward publishing business with the tremendous advantage of free labour in production and free distribution agents.
since then they've been relying on donations for literature to keep the old model going.
There can't be much money in "the carts" business. However, the organization could start making automobiles. The new 'Theomobile' would be virtually accident proof and the tires wouldn't wear out for 40 years. The opportunity to own and drive a vehicle designed and engineered by a select group of men, whose names will remain anonymous so as not to deflect glory from the 'real guy' and assembled by 'volunteer' labor will "no doubt" be enthusiastically received by all rank and file witnesses.
If Tesla could start a new car company with just money as his backing, just think what jw's could accomplish with the backing of 'holy spirit'.

jehovah's witnesses are purportedly 'active' in 240 'lands', quite a remarkable feat for a planet with only about 200 sovereign states (206 if you count all that are recognised by at least one un member, of which jws are present in 166).
more than half of all jws worldwide are in just 10 countries.
over 90% are in 45 countries.. to achieve this mathematical miracle, various places that are not separate countries are counted as 'lands'.. tahiti is counted as a separate 'land' though it is part of the society islands, which is part of french polynesia, which is part of... france.
Are they preaching in Syria? They could really use the "good news" in Syria! And I think that East Los Angeles considered a separate land also. How about Detroit? Those are some dangerous places that need the "good news".
