the corporation knows that many will never exchange their cd rom for the puerile online library, so doctoring their previous "truths" is the best solution.. a bit like the creed painted on the barn door in "animal farm.

Another Galling Meeting!

yesterday's meeting was again, quite soporific.

however, i felt indignation when it came to paragraph 16 of the watchtower catechism.

it reads..."the remarkable growth that we see today is the result of our faith in god and full acceptance of the bible..."i won't deal with the first part of that sentence here, but the claim at the end - this is just an outright and most egregious lie!

speaking with inlaws i another congregation today who said exactly what is being said in our own hall.

the trolly work is long and boring and no one even notices they are there anymore but walk right on by.

Well said. My sentiments exactly! However the 'cart tenders' have become very proficient at texting and coffee drinking.
Whenever we travel to other cities, I make a point of observing and taking a few pictures on my cell phone of what the poor brothers and sisters do while 'cart tending'. It's numbing that what most of them do is even remotely considered 'field service'. Frankly, it's embarrassing and I really believe that they know it.

Sound like ones who get to live in "paradise" will be devoid of human emotion. For example,
When grandma get raised up in the resurrection because she was "faithful" but grandpa, her loving husband of 65 years, who was massacred at Armageddon isn't there to meet her, there will be no sadness?
Or when one's faithful first marriage mate is resurrected only to fine that their former marriage mate, who survived Armageddon, has remarried and is very happy with the new mate, there will be no jealously?
That's where I want to be---not!

Ex elders vs. Current elders

in our congregation there are now more ex-elders than current ones.

(probably very common).

what i notice most of all, is that the ones who were the best speakers (we actually had some good ones) are the ones who have all stepped down.. i'm of the opinion the better teachers recognize its all a joke, and can't be bothered to reach out again.. so the ones left who are taking the lead are the most boring ones available.

For the most part, "old school" elders (like myself) actually studied the bible and read the wt publications. So there you have it as to why they are ex-elders! "Truth" talks but bullsh*t walks!

i had several rebuttals to give him, but didn't.

The next time some self righteous, dumbass jw tells you something like; 'we don't paint the walls on the Titanic', ask them to read and explain the full verse in their bible at James 1:27.
"The form of worship that is clean and undefiled from the standpoint of our God and Father is this: to look after orphans and widows in their tribulation, and to keep oneself without spot from the world."
I use this scripture often to stir up a little shi*t among the witnesses. I mention that the organization quotes this scripture quite often as one of their "proof texts" that being separate from the world is one of the "identifying marks" of the"true religion". After all agree that this indeed being separate from the world is an "identifying mark", I throw in the comment, "What about the part of this scripture that says we must also take care of widows and orphans? What provision does the organization have to take care of them?"

How do you feel about the expression "The Truth"?

it's amazing how the expression "the truth" has become such an ingrained term used by witnesses.. "we have 'the truth'".

"is he 'in the truth'?".

most here have found out so many facts about the organisation, and felt the effects of being "gut-punched" as we realised these facts.. so how do you feel about the expression "the truth" now?.

I have noticeably stopped using the term "the truth" when referring to anything jw. Several of my relatives and friends have noticed and asked --why?
I always answer that; "it's sort of a misnomer don't you think with all the changes to what we previously were taught was "the truth"?"
I get some very strange looks!

Having Jehovah as a friend.

i've always found it amazing that people can say with such conviction that jehovah is their friend.. we are talking about a "friend" who perhaps daily "tests" us to see if we are his friends.

all of us have dealt with some form of hardship such as the death of a loved one, chronic illness or whatever.

it is in these cases that the brothers will tell a person that perhaps it is a test, or that "jehovah knows you're not ready" or some other lame excuse.. do our real friends "test" us to see if we will be loyal to them?
