i pay attention to what other writers write about writing.

writers always have limits--even writers of fiction.. do you choose to live in a world where pigs fly and deuces are wild?

that would be an imaginary world.. do you choose to live in a world where god rules?

Nearly all ancient civilizations had their mythology writers. Those mythology writers were, in many instances, national treasures for the simple reason that they spun amazing yarns about fantastic shit that glorified/perpetuated their society or otherwise entertained the masses. No reason that the Hebrews wouldn't have their mythology writers also.

Them demons are a very pliable, flexible, and expandable creatures. In one part of the bible they are 'man sized' and banging the good looking women of the earth. In another part of the bible 2,000 can squeeze into one man. Wow! They are amazing!

Fading tactic that worked well for me

if you read some of my past posts you’ll know that i’ve successfully faded while being able to keep contact with my immediate family, who are still very devout jws.

when i did finally completely stop attending meetings, my family, and especially my parents (elder father and pioneer mom), were of course very interested to know the reasons why.

at first i deflected their questions, stating that i had personal reasons and did not want to explain myself.

I've used pretty much the same strategy and am still fading. In my situation however, I'm the patriarch of a rather large family of jw's. All my siblings (3rd gen dubs) are still active but are also somewhat apathetic. I don't debate or push my feelings of ttatt but they all know that I'm not a "true believer" any longer.

My 4 children, their mates, and my 6 grandchildren are marginal dub's--thankfully. My wife continues to "hold on" but she sees how much happier and full of life I've become since fading from the borg.

Like Phizzy stated, "when the student is ready, the teacher will arrive."

5 publishers in my father's congregation have just been put in rest homes.

my father was telling me the other day that 5 publishers have recently been put in rest home care.

interesting in a cong of about 80-100 publishers.

When the older ones are placed in 'rest homes', they are soooooooooooooon forgotten. If only the pioneers could offically "count their time" by visiting them in the 'rest homes', the older ones would receive one hell-of-a-lot more attention. Probably looooong daily visits. How loving that would be!

Jesus was demoted and jehober was promoted by Rutherford in order to make "his" personal little religion different for other so called Christian religions. He did this during the 30's as a way to stir the sh*t and get "his" personal little religion back in headlines by creating controversy. Contrarian-ism was "his" trademark. Rutherford (and now the magnificent 7) live(d) by the motto,

"If you can't dazzle them with your brilliance, baffle them with your bullsh*t".

Does the WT attract needy dysfunctional type of people?

in your personal experience, do you think that the wt attracts needy types of people?

over the years, my experience is that they do attract very needy, insecure, dysfunctional, types.

i had an acquaintance that i just basically cut off.

Those with nothing really going on in there life are attracted. Those that view life as an obligation rather than an opportunity are attracted. Those who desire a magical solution to their problems are attracted. Some, men especially, are attracted because they see an avenue to gain power and prominence. and nut cases that will join any religion or organization just because someone came to their home.

Un-****ing-Believable

just a few observations from this morning.

.. this morning as i was trying to choke back the bile that kept wanting to come up during the wt study one comment in particular screamed cult.. towards the very end as comments were being made about "counseling" others with "gracious" words one of the uber-dub minstral-serpents made this comment, "we see in the last image that the brother is holding a bible as he counsels the other brother.

we look closely at the picture and we can know exactly what he is counseling the brother about.

I hope you were wearing your suit jacket when you were getting reamed for your "beard".

When the stupid beard thing comes up around me, I simply mention that they should take a look at the pictures of jesus in the wt publications. Then I politely mention that if we want to imitate jesus, we should definitely not be doing the (lol) 'cart' witnessing. Jesus would never just stand there and say nothing as people passed by.

Up until the the last 10 or so years (when the 7 goof balls that run the borg took over) jw's were simply a designer religion born out of the delusional minds of JFR and FF. The few other presidents in between simply perpetuated Rutherford's religion.
