Sorry for your loss and sorry you will have to endure a jw funeral talk or as I like to refer to it as a jw infomercial .

it was a shock despite us being divorced for over 40 years.
my son from that marriage phoned me with the news of sandra's death a couple of days ago, followed by my daughter.. sandra was one of 5 siblings.
the other 4 are still jw's.

the article ends with this:.
there is no real basis for doubting the truthfulness of this historical account.
If it's in the Hebrew scriptures, it's part of Jewish mythology. All ancient society's have their mythology so why would the Jews be any different?
like 'stuckinarut2' said 'it must be real if it's in the bible' cause jehober would not let anything unreal be part of his word- don't ya' know?

i have been thinking about this phrase lately "new heavens & new earth".
the new earth piece i guess i can see that one...... (still not really sure about that one) .
but why the need for "new heavens"?
"A new heavens and a new earth" probably sounded very poetic to the bible writer in his time, so he wrote it down and it's still there!

noone and nothing can really prepare you for the burning pain you feel when your spouse leaves you after 8 years of marriage.
from one day to another, all your dreams, hopes and plans are shattered.. i still have so many questions which will remain unanswered in eternity.. the thread i made a few weeks ago, is part of this story.
after learning about ttatt my plans involved to wake up my wife as well and exit the truth.
You are still being held captive by the jw way of thinking about marriage. "Marriage is forever, no matter what"--thinking! I had a similar experience 10 years into our marriage and we had 2 children at the time. We also married young--19 and 18.
When a woman (or a man) develop romantic interests outside the marriage, there is not much one can do about it. It's not necessarily you, it's the situation. Being young and vital often leads to extra marital relationships. As I look back now, it was my ego that was damaged the most, thinking that I was such a stud. lol....
Anyway, she came back (I also enjoyed a few flings myself during her absence) and we will be celebrating our 50th next year. You never know!

i was raised in the cult, a 'golden boy' in jw about 15 years ago.
regular pioneer, went to pioneer school and then mts.
my dad is a gilead graduate and is still a serving elder.
2True
Having been that so called "golden boy" myself, it's very damn difficult to to see the gold in that title. It was the pain of "letting others down, that hurt the most especially when one spends his entire life as a jw. It took me way too long to see the real light so thank 'god' for the internet!

today my wife showed me the new medical directive and power of attorney form she got at the meeting.
surprisingly she asked if i wanted to fill mine!
i have been inactive for 6 years and i don't go close to any jw gatherings because i don't want friends who only care for me unless i share their beliefs.
Hi NVR2L8,
I'm in a similar situation with my still-in wife. I discarded my 'blood card' years ago. She came home from the meeting the other night and sowed me her "new" blood card. We had a brief and mild discussion about the jw flawed blood doctrine.
I asked her very calmly, "how many times this year so you think you will violate god's law regarding giving blood?"
Of course, she said, "none".
I said ok great, "how many times this year will you have several vials of your blood drawn at a doctors office that will be sent to a laboratory to help monitor your health?"
She got the point!

it looks to me as though they are saying don't play at a higher level because your then in competition?
so if i'm correct what if any bible scriptures can be used to back up this anti competitive idea and are there other scriptures showing the opposite?.
All the brothers and sisters that now 'volunteer' their time to the borg as professional doctors, lawyers, accountants, engineers, etc. should be disfellowshipped for pursuing higher education. OMG they spent time that they could have used standing by a cart or knocking on doors (hoping that no one was home!)

today marks 13 years since my wife and i have stepped inside a kingdom hall.
after 29 years full on being a jw and a number of years serving as an elder then as the presiding overseer we pulled the plug.
yes 13 years ago coming home from the first day of a circuit assembly i said to my wife “that’s it i am not going back”.
Amen brother!
My story is similar to yours except I was a jw for over 50 years before I moved over to "the dark side"! One of the hardest things for me to now accept is how long it took me me to finally take a unadulterated look at the wtbts. It still bothers me that they had that much control over my thinking.
Quoting otwo;
"Make sure you walk under a ladder and let a black cat cross your path. Maybe break a mirror on the next Friday the 13th (January).
I am always finding another milestone to celebrate. "
Yea today I'm voting (first time ever) in the California primary for Bernie! 15 years ago I would have wondered if jehober would send a lighting bolt to strike me if I went into a voting booth! LOL How could an adult mind ever accept some of the fear mongering sh*t they fed us? I'm embarrassed quite frankly!

i don't really engage in doctrinal discussions about jw's anymore.
they seem to say some pretty crazy stuff.
but i have read some threads discussing doctrinal changes and how watchtower is really out of ideas and money at the same time.
The only "great tribulation" I see is the one within the wt organization! Yes there is much tribulation with the dubs today and the wt organization's "end is near", I hope!

i'm one of those who "would never grow old in this system of things".
i was promised that back in 1969-right!
i was 22 then and now i'm a few months short of 70!.
I'm one of those who "would never grow old in this system of things". I was promised that back in 1969-right! I was 22 then and now I'm a few months short of 70!
That being said, my wife and I along with many, many of our long time jw friends and family have "grown old in this system". That means that we all visit the doctors offices much, much more these days. Many of these doctors visits require us to have a blood test done prior to our appointments.
This is where I reverse "witness at every opportunity"! Every time I hear someone say that they are going in to have a blood test, I say,
"Oh, your going to have to violate god's law regarding the sanctity of blood you know"
Or when my wife or I have to go have blood drawn, I remind her: "Well let's go violate god's law on blood today."
Needless to say, my "witnessing" in not well received but as we are so often reminded, sometimes "the truth hurts".
