watchtower literature, according to watchtower dogma, is not mere 'literature'... like any other literature from some "worldly" source, ...but rather it is "spiritual food" given by christ's appointed "slave" at "the proper time" and in fulfillment of bible prophecy.
(matthew 24:45-47).
this is the claim.
More like we had been "fooled at the proper time"!

Every thing is pagan to jw's--except Disneyland and all the magic of all the different characters and Princesses?
Sparlock--NO
Peter Pan ---Hell yea

when the co is visiting, i think i hear "thank you , jehovah, for this special week of activity" until i want to vomit.. also "jehovah, please remember those sick and afflicted.
we pray that they can make a recovery and be back with us.".
stale, canned, institutionalized garble.
Formula prayers. Do they work any better than the unformulated ones? I haven't one answered in the past 67 years that I know of.

i'm sure we've all heard this argument by theists employing the fine-tuning argument.
are you aware, however, of exactly how much this "little bit" really is?
theists would have us think that the slightest change in the distance would have drastic implications for survivability.
So some self important brother (and probably very under educated) make this very unscientific statement in a pubic talk and like wildfire jw's jump on the band wagon and start repeating this stupid idea.
How the hell could anyone know for a certainty if the earth is the the right distance from the sun? It must be because we are here--right?

so we were talking about noah for our family worship tonight and it ended with a little debate between me and my parents about how the flood was possible.
you know, where did the water come from, how did all the animals fit, etc.
of course it led nowhere and my parents came up with some strange theories like that there was "an expanse of water in the sky" and that's where all the water came from.
So we were talking about Noah for our family worship tonight and it ended with a little debate between me and my parents about how the flood was possible.
Why not point out to your family that if the flood really happened, as described in the book of Jewish mythology, aka, the Bible, then 2 very serious things are illustrated;
1) Noah and his super fine theocratic family were very lousy preachers since they couldn't even bring 1 person into the 'troof', (decades of preaching and not even one convert?) and
2) Why would the 'loving' god of Noah drown millions of his children. Drowning sure seems like a very inhumane way to execute your kids. (Why not just make those wicked kids disappear so old Noah and his family would not have to hear all those desperate screams for help?)

i was an elder in the 1970's and i was not a big fan of the "stay alive until 75" dogma.
i was looked down upon by the heavy hitters on the body of elders and in time i changed my mind.
i knew of the failed prophecy of 1914 being the end of all times which was repeated for the year 1925...yet i came to believe well maybe this time they've got it right.. with every new watchtower, i combed over every word to find support for my change in my belief that the end was coming in fall of 1975. at the district assembly in 1975, everyone clung onto every word in the final talk.
I too was ONE of them there suckers and I was an especially BIG one. I was the PO during the 1975 service year so I felt a bit of pressure to really spout the company 'troof'.
Below is a little letter I put together (with a little help from all my friends here) that I sent to my jw family members.
Yep, I got a cold response! lol
Do we deserve an Apology for what DID NOT happen in 1975 ?
There is a certain “truth” about what did not happened in 1975, however, and there was an embarrassing silence following the historic failure of 1975 ‘prophecy’ to produce anything even close to Armageddon!
There is also an almost unanimous unwillingness to TALK ABOUT the NON-happening among jw’s that lived through 1975. Is it because of the inculcated fear of the consequences for not agreeing 100% with the gb or the unbearable pain and utter disappointment of that non-event?
WT 76 7/15 p. 441 par. 15
15 “But it is not advisable for us to set our sights on a certain date, neglecting everyday things we would ordinarily care for as Christians, such as things that we and our families really need. We may be forgetting that, when the “day” comes, it will not change the principle that Christians must at all times take care of all their responsibilities. If anyone has been disappointed through not following this line of thought, he should now concentrate on adjusting HIS viewpoint, seeing that it was not the word of God that failed or deceived him and brought disappointment, but that HIS own understanding was based on wrong premises.”
WT 7/1/79 p. 29 par.17-18
17 However, during these “last days,” have erroneous views about this system’s end or telos (Greek) been held in advance by some of Jehovah’s servants? Yes, they have. Some of these views involve the length of time it would take for the end to come. Out of zeal and enthusiasm for the vindication of Jehovah’s name, Word and purposes, and the desire for the new system, some of his servants have at times been premature in their expectations. This is similar to the view that the disciples had as to the imminence of God’s kingdom in their day. (Acts 1:6) But because expectations have at times been premature and so have not been fulfilled, does this mean that God has somehow changed his purpose? Not at all. “My own counsel will stand, and everything that is my delight I shall do,” says Jehovah. (Isa. 46:10) Hence, Jehovah’s purposes, and time, for establishing a righteous new order are firmly fixed.
18 This certainly impresses on us our need to weigh carefully all Scriptural factors, not emphasizing some to the point of overshadowing others. As Jesus himself stated so plainly: “Concerning that day and hour nobody knows.” (Matt. 24:36) Always there is the need to pay strict attention to the apostle Paul’s counsel: “Do not go beyond the things that are written.”—1 Cor. 4:6.
These seems to be the only acknowledgement of the 1975 debacle. A few paragraphs in the watchtower that essentially threw all of us rank and file jw’s under the bus for truly believing what we were told by the organization from the platform and in publications (as good jw’s we are not allowed to dispute what we are told from the platform and in publications). ‘Failed prophecies’ have not even been acknowledged as errors. They have instead been re-framed as, “adjustments”, “new understanding”, “current truths”, or “new light.”
In other words, if you truly believed all the information and hype coming from the organization about what would happen in 1975, too bad, that’s your problem, not theirs.
Often we jw’s experience discomfort because the things that we have been taught for years, even decades just don't add up and cannot be verified, so we try to get rid of that uncomfortable feeling by preaching more or doing more within the organization. This is often a futile attempt to eliminate that discomfort.
For ALL religions, including jw’s, FACTS are very inconvenient problems that ‘believers ’are taught to ignore if the FACTS do not support their religious teachings.
So basically; if we never doubt or question the organization then we will NOT investigate it, BUT------------- If we ever do doubt or question the organization, it WILL investigate us!

so i met her at my last job that i worked & we started off as friends.
i didn't know her faith at the time & i honestly couldn't have cared less, seeing as i'm agnostic.
after about a year, i began developing emotions for her & sure enough, we ended up dating for a little while.
I feel bad for you but my advise also is to start thinking with the big head!

in the august broadcast, david splane is shown in a morning worship video.
i just wanted to focus on the end of the video, were he has this to say:.
the governing body loves to get together and discuss the bible.
I second what Smiddy says. Their 'new lite' is all just corporate bull sh*t. But man did we eat it up! Thank god for ttatt!

i guess this is not so much about guilt, per se, but more so if you feel an obligation to reveal what you now know about ttatt, to those who you have studied with, taught the "truth" to, and are still in the borg ?.
i am sure most of us, after learning about the evils, and lies perpetrated by this organization, must feel some sort of guilt for being the catalyst in "exposing" others to the cult.
honestly, i feel none of us should actually, feel guilty though.
I am proud to say...(besides my kids), I have never brought anyone into the "troof". That is why I am out....I'm a Looser! lol
