there are many of us on this site that do not believe that jehovah truly exists.. i think this is a great and wonderful thing to be celebrated!
i'd like people to list the reasons why they do not believe that jehovah exists.
this is open to all, not just atheists or agnostics, but anyone that believes that the god as put forward by jw.org does not and can not be real.. i'll start: .
Don't you wonder how many jw's really, honestly, truly believe in the existence of jehober? As a 5 decade jw, I certainly had my doubts, for the many reasons expressed in this post, and eventually those doubts helped me see reality. He exists in Hebrew mythology but not in Human reality!

please, how does an elder become an elder and how much trust does or should a jw put in an elder .?

In my first stint as an elder, when the 'elder arrangement' was first introduced in 1972, I was a mere 24 years old. I was "appointed by holy spirit" as an elder because there were only 3-4 men in the congregation that could even give a coherent talk to the congregation. lol
i.e. elder by default
In my second stint as an elder, I truly believed that I could do some good in the congregation and could help the young people find god. lol
i.e. elder by good intention
In my third stint as an elder, I wanted to be a voice of reason on a body of men that thought they were actually "appointed by holy spirit". lol
i.e. elder with a real purpose in life
It's easy to appointed as an elder if you know the formula and have a few years to waste. Holy spirit (if you believe in suchan abstract concept) has nothing to do with it.

as the op states why would israel /jewish nation need to have an army at all ?
if they were the chosen people as the bible states under a theocracy , why would the men of israel need an army .?

One more thing. According to the "Insight" book when the Jews left Egypt;
"the Hebrews were “pursued by 600 chariots along with 50,000 horsemen and heavy infantry to the number of 200,000.”
All those Egyptians were destroyed at the Red Sea-right? No blood, no guts, no running them through with a sword or dashing their babies to pieces on a rock! God took care of his people--but they still needed an army of some 600,000 young men?

Fantastic post Smiddy. I've raised this same question many times to my jw friends and family. Of course, they have no reasonable answer. With the 1 angel killing 185,000 soldiers in 1 night and with no bloody battle taking place, why the need of a human army? Unless, possibly, that story is, god forbid, just a story!
Great comments David_Jay regarding the history of the Jews and their weird religion. I think you covered most of it except you didn't mention that the Bible, as we have it today, is simply Jewish mythology and nothing more!

This is truly a heart-warming story of human kindness. Too bad the god of the universe just didn't redirect this huge storm around this location. If he/she would have done that, then no need for all the suffering. But then there would have been no photo opps or publicity for his organization!

regarding the watchtower interpretation of revelation 13 https://www.jw.org/en/publications/magazines/g201105/seventh-world-power-bible-history/ - identifying the usa and britain as part of the legs of iron from daniels vision... i think they're gonna have to update this one in the next decade.. trump seems to be the last person who'd work closely with a female prime minister for one, secondly, us brits aint so powerful as we once was.
trump appears to be pretty ok with dealing with russia and for all we know could become an ally with them.. your thoughts?.
now that i read the watchtower interpretation of revelation without my jw spectacles on, it's laughable that they come to these conclusions..
Maybe now that jw's are familiar with the term "overlapping generations", they will also accept it when the gb introduces the term "under-performing prophecies".

Why would god go to soooo much trouble to preserve his word the bible from the dastardly satanic culprits who tried to destroy it but not take the same care to preserve his name and it's proper pronunciation?

thier talk at this summers district conventions about shunning faders was a bit unclear and many said it was pointing out that only jws were to shun wrongdoers not specifically faders.
this new broadcast makes it now obvious that those who leave the meetings have left jehovah so therefore they are to be shunned as a form of discipline.
there can be no mistake that they do not want any of thier cult members associating with faders or those that have left the cult.
I was a 'prominent' elder in our congregation for many years. I was a 'lifer' so to speak till I finally admitted ttatt to myself. I've been faded for about 7 years now but attend on some Sundays and the RC's just to keep up with the latest, greatest, most recent, divinely revealed (but possibly uninspired) new lite.
I get a very warm reception at the kh and all my old fellow elders just sort of keep their distance.
I do my reverse witnessing to those that I know will listen to facts and reason!

with the admission of the governing body that they are neither inspired nor infallible , i am curious to know how many of you people from all around the world know of somebody ,a relative or friend , who lost their life because of following the dictates of a religion that now says they are neither inspired nor infallible.,that they now admit they make mistakes.. how many people have needlesly died having followed the jehovahs witness religions policys regarding not getting your child vaccinated against diseases ,which was the case years ago, not having organ transplants as that was considered cannilbalismm years ago ,and since the mid 1940`s the ban on jehovahs witnesses having blood transfusions.. yet somehow today you can have fractions of blood donated by non jw`s who are designated as people to be destroyed at armageddon because they follow satans system of things,.
blood that is donated by these people ,stored in a laboratory , and processed into fractions by laboratory staff and given to jehovahs witnesses with their consent.with no consequences to them for doing so.. blood is not poured out on the ground and not used for any purpose as their bible the nwt dictates.or any other bible for that matter..
The oldest son of one of my very best jw friend's died needing a blood transfusion to give him a fighting chance in his battle with a blood disease.
Then the "new lite" regarding blood fractions was handed down by 'god's channel of communication'. The boy could probably have made it with the fractions but too little too late for him. Years later my grief stricken friend took his own life because he never got over the bullsh*t ruling from the gb!
I find it extremely hypocritical also that jw's can 'donate' blood by having blood drawn for medical testing to determine certain medical conditions. So we can't take blood to save us from a known medical condition and thereby extend our life, but we can donate our blood to have it tested, inspected, homogenized, and pasteurized to determine if we have a disease that can shorten our life.
Every time my 'still in' jw wife goes to have a 'blood test', I remind her that she is actually donating blood and has no idea what happens to that "sacred" blood once she leave the lab. So far she hasn't commented.

perhaps some of you remember a new understanding of the sheep and the goats in the epic march 2015 wt study edition - specifically the article "loyally supporting christ's brothers".. while this article was studied many months ago, it was instrumental in helping me wake up.
during my study of the 2015 article i recalled that we had just revised our understanding of the sheep and the goats a few years ago and this caused me to research the real progression of the jw understanding of this parable.
i put the results of my research in an excel spreadsheet.. .
