Disowning the God of the OT is not an Option

it's to their credit that many modern christians prefer the jesus of the gospels to the god of the old testament.. ot god is an embarrassment.

i am not going to list his multitude of moral crimes here but my personal favourite is his brilliant idea that a girl who is raped must marry her rapist.

it's not his biggest crime but it demonstrates a disregard for human feelings that is beyond the comprehension of every moral person.

Peace to you to from an atheist brother. It is good to hear everyone's views without the bickering and fighting. Sometime people forget how to be tactful and kind towards other people when explaining their beliefs.

One thing before you leave is I suggest you keep doing your research and keep learning. Keep being open. Don't let negativity from others on here or anywhere else get to you. Hope you find your way.

for the past three years, my husband and i have been watching these sermons by remarkable worldwide speakers.

the biblical truths we have learnt from their presentations, in such a short period of time most definitely tip the scales compared to the truth the jw.org led me to believe i had for over 20 plus years of my life.

thanks to these videos, we have now found the truth and the truth is jesus christ (john 14:6).

Let us give her a little more time to explain everything to us. As someone who is nearing atheism, I am open to anything as long at they are open as well to atheism. I consider theists and everyone else on here, no matter what beliefs they hold (as long as it isn't hurtful or impeding on the rights of others) as my brothers and sisters. By talking to them in a more tactful manner, not being sarcastic, it helps them to be more open and the bickering and fighting will be less.

Yes. I agree with what Steve said. It makes for interesting interchange when we express our thoughts and beliefs without feeling pity for people with beliefs different from ours.

Keep up your research. There is a vast amount of knowledge out there that we were told not to venture out and find. Now you are free from the shackles. Do what is happy for you and be open to other ideas and beliefs.

+1 for nice atheists! It's to see in this thread where theists and atheists can get along despite our differences. I feel no need to ridicule that someone's belief is a made piece of crap. I want to let them come to their own conclusions finding their own inner peace without ridiculing their beliefs, as long as they don't ridicule atheists beliefs.

Yes, I hope you understand why some of us are a bit baffled by hell. As something as complex as God, don't you think God would be merciful enough just to let all unbelievers die off in sleep?

Again, not trying to offend my Theist brothers. Just something to think about.

Thanks Faye for your response. Having that amount of faith in God is commendable. But how do you feel when Muslims say the same thing that because of their faith in Allah, it is their duty and God's blessing to kill unbelievers? Isn't their faith just as valid as yours? Thanks again for your response.

The Atheists on here mean well. They might not be super nice but I have met some jerk Theists too. It's all about balance. As long as they aren't arrogant or sarcastic, I am good. I am leaning more towards becoming an Atheist but won't snipe at my Theist brothers. :) Open to what you have to say as long as you are open too.

Welcome!

I am still an active JW that has learned TTATT (still in for family reasons). Currently in the middle between Atheism and Theism (although slightly leaning more towards Atheism but I am open). Most of the Atheists here mean well like "cofty". Yes, they are frank but they just want you to arrive to conclusions through logic. Just keep doing your research to arrive to what is best for you. Whether you believe in God or become Atheist, it is up to you, as long as it's not impeding on the rights of others or advocating your way as something all should follow. I know some people can be a bit rude on here but don't let it stop you from seeking more knowledge. :) Hope to hear more from you.
