Damned if they do, Damned if they don't
by FusionTheism ini see an attitude among some people here which is not very helpful.
i can understand it, but still, it's not constructive or helpful.. if you condemn the society for not changing, but then you also condemn them when they do change in a positive way, what incentive or motive does that provide for the people at the society to ever want to change for the better?.
also, what does that attitude look like to current witnesses who are having doubts?.

Are you religious or are you spiritual? Wake up to what?
by Deltawave inthere is a huge difference between been religious and been spiritual.
been religious is about been superior to others in the sight of god.
however, been spiritual is about self awareness, inner peace and unity with the natural world.

@Vivianne
I never said it was tactless to address lies or irrational viewpoints but it can be done with tact, humility and kindness.
Going all out on the OP headstrong who is relatively new on the boards is something that must be taken with great caution.
Even though his views might seem naive or cultish to others, we can still question the OP with humility and address his views with whatever counterarguments and questions with kindness.
Some new posters who aren't thick skinned or get easily offended might get discouraged easily which is why I try to take the nice approach when dealing with such ones.
Anyways thanks for your response. Have a good day.

Well I want to say welcome deltawave. :) I personally will look into this BK thing. I am an open minded atheist and in the process of researching.
I commend you and thank you for your post. Don't mind the rude behaviour of some posters on here.
It is true that if you are highly opinionated on here and try to present those opinions as fact some posters will tactlessly try to jump on you.
While I believe in addressing skewed or irrational viewpoints, such can be done with tact, humility and kindness.
Keep showing your kind demeanour in your post even if others don't do the same.

Faye could you let me know what you meant by Ray being a true Christian?
And what makes his brand of Christianity true?
I know you claim to be Christian and I ask you out of respect and genuine kindness. Thanks in advance.

Yeah maybe if he left at a younger age, he would have eventually done more critical research on the bible.

Onthewayout that is what I liked about Ray Franz. Even though he remained Christian, he didn't preach that if others were not Christians, that they would go to hell. Who knows? Maybe he was uncertain himself about the existence of God.

Yes Faye. It seems that Ray was a very humble and genuine man. I am pretty sure he would be the kind of person who would do his best to answer sincere questions. Like I said, an an atheist, I want to keep learning. I'm not the type of atheist that would mock or use sarcastic comments to prove my point or bring anyone down. I am not implying that the atheists on JWN are like that either. Of course, all of us here have different personalities and the way we say things might be taken the wrong way by others.
I need to read "In Search of Christian Freedom". Thanks for bringing up that book.

Hello Faye. :D I understand he was a Christian. I just want to know if there were any sources or direct quotes from him on his thoughts on atheism. That is all. If he were still alive today I would have asked him myself. It would be interesting if he were still alive to see if he could address some of the questions some atheists on JWN want to hear answered as some theists on here like Perry and William Draper just does a hit and run post. I tried to tactfully engage in conversation with them with genuine sincerity and no sarcastic intent to no avail. -
