God in the video games shop...
by WantTheTruth ini have been considering religion and god recently... and to some extent the jws religion.. i was in a video games shop the other day, looking for a few good games for my xbox console.... i found myself thinking "would god look favourably upon me if i brought this game".... the game in question was 'mortal kombat' (one of the more violent games).
this is one of the main reasons i did not purchase it.. i think i have succumb to jw logic.... is this the right way to be thinking?.

It is Ashland. I used to live in MA and attended the Shelburn Falls KH. I loved that town. It is so beautiful. I went back there a year ago and I miss it so much, especially in the fall. At first I thought this was Ashfield. I always got their names confused.

I'm disfellowshipped, and I will partake at the Memorial.................
by Fruitcake inwell, nisan 14 is rolling around again, and i am going to partake at the memorial.. when i was a goodstanding jw last year, i really thought of the relationship i had with the christ, and partook, and they all had a cow.
but i had a good standing, so they pretty much left me alone.... well, surprise!!
i am now disfellowshipped, and some inner voice tells me to go back there one last time and partake, i am not doing this to be a pain, but to show the new congregation that i had belonged to, who i am, and to give others the courage to examine themselves, and their personal relationship with the christ.. i believe disfellowshipping is unscriptural, so i am confidant!!

Do you not realize that you could sue that brother for assault??!! it doesn't matter if it's a place of business or a place of worship. No one is to lay one finger on you with force. If someone shoplifts in a store the manager is not to PHYSICALLY prevent you from leaving. He can lock the door or stand in your way but he can not physically grab you and prevent you from leaving.You can say that brother damaged your shoulders or your rotator cuffs and sue him. I would think about that seriously.

I can't wait for Doom 3 to come out. When I was in the congregation I would hear them talking about how evil and disgusting Doom was. I was like, "Have you even SEEN Doom? Even though, back then, that was state of the art, I told them that it was pathetic. I loved playing it but come on...It was so bitmappy that you couldn't make out any gory details.
I never listened to what they said about R rated movies, internet, violent video games and whatnot. I was like, I highly doubt God would be so pety to not grant someone entrance into his kingdom just because he listens to Metalica and plays Doom.

Have you been punished for testifying in court?

well, guess what?
a member of my family made a statement to a judge in regards to an abuse case and immediately had his privileges taken away from him.

A Faint Knock at the Door. Guess Who?

they introduced themselves and offered me the latest magazines with the awake being the one being most prominent.

My mother HATES them! When they come to her door or even anywhere on her street she hollers and screams at them and tells them to get the hell out of the neighborhood. She made such a scene the last time that they haven't been back since. "YOU STOLE MY SON FROM ME FOR 6 YEARS!!!! GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE!!!" It's rather amusing. :)

If Time were running in reverse would we know it?
by D wiltshire inif "time" is running backwards i dont see how that we would ever know, perhaps some clever physicist could devise an experiment to find out for sure.. some theoreticians have suggested the reason the arrow of time runs from past to future is tied intimately to the expansion of space.
since einstein special theory of relativity we have come to see that "time", space and speed are all relative.
we now more correctly speak of "space-time" instead of just space.

I don't know if you all heard about this but a couple of years ago they finally broke the speed of light barrier. They accelerated a photon through a chamber filled with Cesium gas 380 times faster than light. They said this created a paradox in which they observed the photon to be leaving the chamber before it even finished entering the chamber. This proved the theory that if you were to travel faster tahn light you would travel backwards in time.
They said that this could be used for comunications and computing but would have no practicle applications for human travel. But if used for communication the resulting paradox would be that you would recieve a call before the other person finished dialing your number or even picked up the phone. Curious indeed.

Husband puts off wifes funeral for Elders meeting
by Sangdigger inwhile reading minimuses post under "friends" about a sister who kept up auxillary pioneering even though her 5 year old daughter died, it brought to mind a similar story that happened just 2 months ago in a large cong.
an elder serving in that cong.
for many years now, lost his wife to heart complications.
