  on a different thread, berylblue mentioned how, when comparing my 1st post to the present ones, there is an obvious change.

  i do agree that we all can grow and learn as time goes on in our lives.

  my question for today is,"have you changed in how you think or in your growth from a spiritual and /or emotional standpoint"?

  The 9/8 Awake - Well Crafted Deception!

  the sept. 8, 03 awake contains an article about a disaster in ecuador.. on page 14 it says, regarding witness volunteer efforts, "by saturday evening,.

  approximately 200 volunteers from local congregations had sealed the windows of 91. witness homes.

  many non-witnesses also benefited.

  Absolutely correct - I was once rebuked by a sister for making a doantion to a charity -- I was leter told all my money should go into the contribution box at the KH because scripturally that was helping fund the most important charitable work as instructed by Jesus -- the kingdom preaching work -- charitable contributions by witnesses to ANY worldy charity is very much dissapproved of -- so yes this magazine article is a Well Crafted Deception

  i remember flicking through my ex girlfriends copy of the "proclaimers" book back last year, and there was a page with the pictures of the gb at the time (roundabout 1992 with henschel, jaracz et al).

  apart from noticing that the gb was totally comprised of males (well, with the wt's almost neanderthalitic view of women, you wouldnt expect a female contingent within the gb would you?

  ), i noticed that they all seemed to be white, and, judging by some of the names, probably american.

  Leo Greenlees and Ewart Chitty were British -- forgot to mention in my earlier posting - -Greenlees was from Scotland - Chitty was from England -- they were "allowed to resign" from the GB

  Why Do JWs Only Preach In Poor/Middle Class Neighborhoods?

  as my name suggests, i'm from nyc.

  i've lived in every borough of new york and spent time at most of the local congregations until i finally decided that it was all for nothing (my recent posts on this forum explain why).

  during this time, i noticed an interesting pattern - the jws only preach in poor to middle class neighborhoods.

  Well when I was in NYC last summer, I was outside the New York Stock exchange on Wall Street and there was an african american sister and she was trying to talk to people and place the WT/Awake -- now I may be ignorant -- but there is no place on earth -- including the City of London where there is so much wealth and affluence as Wall Street - so I still do not agree that JWs delibeartley target the less affluent/poor etc.

  My Reinstated Niece Says She Goes To Meetings To Make Her Parents Happy

  i saw my niece last night and she told my wife, daughter and me that since she's been reinstated, she's only gone to a few meetings and part of a special assembly day.

  she complained how everyone still avoids her and how people just aren't nice in the "truth".

  she's totally bored at the meetings and doesn't want to go out in service ever again.

  Qualifications of Elders

  in my experience with elders in the past i was counseled for many things, most trivial and stupid, but some were serious issues.

  one thing i noticed was that the elders always seemed to approach issues with some preconceived ideas, or they would try to read between the lines rather than actually listen to what i was saying.

  others i know have had similar experiences.

  The mistake (well, one of them) the Witnesses make is assuming that spiritual counseling will solve ALL problems, and it won't. Life doesn't work that way.

  There ar etwo ways of looking at this -- I can tell you that JWs do not target low / middle income -poor -- they do try and reach all -- but their best success comes from lower income where promises of paradise in a new earth have greater appeal -- high income -- well hell the yalraedy have their paradise. Number 2 it goes without question that high income/well educated have access to the internet and we all know how the WTBTS fears that. So the higher income/better educated know the truth about the witnesses -- also look where all JW growth is coming from Latin America/Mexico/Albania/Africa -- little or no internet -- so JWs have more success but I can truthfully say - I do not beleive they target lower income/poor people
