Did the elders ignore you when you need their help?

I want to tell you a true story but will not give full details to protect my identity. I think I told it a few years ago on this board but can not find it.There once was a brother and sister married to each other. She begged repeatedly for help from the elders over their situation. It was never forthcoming. She started getting attention from a worldy man at work. The obvious happened. She confessed to the elders. So the question is "How long did it take them to show attention now and form a judicial committee and meet with her

a) Took them forever still -like it did with the couples problem

b) It took them a few weeks but they eventually got around to it

c) So fu----g fast it could be clocked with an egg timer

Today's (10-18-09) Watchtower Study. More Lies...

well, today is another interesting day.

as some of you all know...i have been trying to make my exit out of the cult but my wife has been giving me some probs along the way.

today as usual i dont go to the meeting, i go on with my day as normal, wash clothes, cook breakfast, and so on.

i finally saw that november 15th wt article on prayer that everyone has been talking about - the people in the photos look as stiff as corpses!.

people will be called in the back room for inadvertantly making contact with their spouse during prayer.. i think i will adopt the following stance during prayer now:.

I think this will go mdown like a lead balloon. It will not be as bad as the oral sex fiasco of the 1970s and 1980s but it sure as hell will ruffle some feathers

it is a fascinating book backed up throughout with scriptures will open your eyes but you must read it from beginning to end.. the above is a quote from my jw friend, inactive for 30 years and thinking of sheepishly returning.

is the book cited above a scholarly and dependable commentary on revelation?.

It did - but the whole point was that from a book that was published in 1988 and just 20 years later there are a HUGE number of "official" changes makes it laughable that this is Gods Spirit directed organization

live in Texas, but did not vote for Bush, nor would I ever. No he's not one of our best Presidents, but then I've always wondered by you folks tossed out Winston Churchill in favour of Clement Atlee while the war was still going on.

And Margaret Thatcher, one of the best Prime Ministers of all time was tossed out by her own party!! That would never happen in the USA

i am glad we went to the meeting this morning.

it was about how jehovah's witnesses have always taught the paradise earth for most of obedient mankind.

it mentioned how early christian leaders such as origen and augustine introduced neo-platonic thought into early christianity and allowed ideas about an immortal soul to crowd out what the bible says about the earth.

who the hell are "the elders"?

being an elder is supposed to be a "privilege".

elders are supposed to be "shepherds" who care for the flock.

I try not to look back with regret as it generally does no good. However, what you say minimus along with other factors made me decide in the late 1990s to step down as an elder. I could no longer serve. Hell even the pharse I just used "step down" is insulting to the brothers. It makes it seem like elders are a "step up" from others - very insulting really.

as jws we were always told how the governments were going to turn on religion and then try to obliterate us and how jehovah would step in, in the nick of time, and save all of his people.

You are correct minimus - at face value - nobody really does care about the witnesses.

However, the popularity of boards like this tends to show some do "care" about them.
