Maybe I need to register my Wii first w/ nintendo.com? I'm on their site and the game is available to purchase but it doesn't say how. Has anyone ordered older games for download to your Wii system?

Damage Control
by sandy ini'm going to the assembly tomorrow to see my 13 yr old niece take the big plunge.
the most important day of her life.
how could i miss that?

I felt so sad for my niece watching her get baptized. How can a 13 year-old be allowed and encouraged to make such a huge decision. She hasn't been to school in two years, she's home-schooled. She doesn't have friends her age and her controlling father keeps her and her siblings isolated. But he puts on a big act for the congregation.
I couldn't even bring myself to give her a phony congrats. I just hugged and kissed her and said "I Love you.". What else could I say?
A few tears actually fell and if any of my family saw me crying I'm sure it's given them false hope. -

Oldie67, I was reading your post and I thought what does her husband going to an assembly have to do with her sister's birthday. Either I'm a total airhead or I really do have the spirit of the world. LOL It's both I guess.

This was really hard to watch today. And I had to act as if it was perfectly normal and not total B.S. During one of the talks they stressed five examples of the "Spirit of the World" Not sure I can remember all five at the moment but you can bet I remember one . . .
Higher Education . . . Apparently if you go to college all that there is to do is get involved in drunken binges and hooking up. LOL The old white guy actually said "Hooking Up" . . . I seemed to be the only one that found that to be funny.
Back to the baptism . . . most of the people getting baptized looked under 18. I didn't count them all but there was about 10-15 people that got baptized. -

Actually I only said yes to the invite to put my family at ease. Last month I said a little too much about the j-dubs while under the influence of alcohol. They let it slide and continue to act as if nothing happened. But my sister is still not acting completely normal with me. I figure if I go tomorrow it should do the trick.
Two-three hours won't kill me, I hope. I'm leaving right after the baptism. -

WT-Says Moms Should not Work
by leaving-jws inthe feb 1, 2008 wt has an article on p. 28 called finding fulfillment as a mother.
the article basically states that moms should not work outside of the home but stay at home with their kids to teach them things about jehovah.
it also states that moms that want to work outside the home full-time do so not out of economic necessity but to boost their self worth, to obtain financial independence or to pay for luxuries.

I work in a law firm and I often hear women putting down other women who leave their careers to stay home and raise their babies.
I can't figure out if they are jealous because they can't do it, or, if they feel guilty because they're not doing it.
There are women out there who would rather work than stay home and raise their kids. I really don't understand that. It's one thing if you need to work to support the family, that I totally understand. But there are some who can afford to stay home but choose not to. I feel guilty leaving my dogs home while I go off to work so there is no way I'd leave my baby with someone else as long as I can help it.
But the WT has no right giving advice on this matter when they don't even encourage college education.
ok, let the bashing begin . . . -

New BOE Letter
by jefferywhat inall boe have just got a letter telling them to encourage all parents to be more on guard with their children.
suggestions such as not letting your young children go to the toilet on their own, not working with older men on their own and not leaving children in the car on rv's and calls un attended.
the letter basically instructed the elders to remind all family heads that its their responsibility to protect their children whilst at and away from the hall etc.

Finally some freakin common sense! Too bad it's only b/c the WT wants to do everything it can to save its ass from more lawsuits, not out of love and concern for the innocent children.

So I called the headquarters.
by DT ini've never done this before, but i wanted to be involved with the informal campaign to call the headquarters on or around the first day of each month.
i haven't even spoken to a witness since i da'd.
i had very modest goals for this call.

JW calls Dr. Laura's radio show yesterday

the call went like this:

It's okay Susan you are not alone. I've been listening to Dr. Laura since I was 20 or so, on and off.
I like her too and agree with her on many subjects. Sometimes she can be a little harsh but she is always logical.
Too many times we act on our feelings and that is what gets us into trouble. I always keep in mind her line about not being a slave to one's feelings. That has helped me make some wise decisions.
Of course I don't agree with her 100% either. But she really is a defender of children and I really love her for that.
It seems Dr Laura is always sympathetic to JW callers. I've heard a few call her over the years and she seems to be bias. A couple years ago a friend of mine (also an ex-jw) told me she knew a witness that worked for Dr. Laura. That may explain it.
