It's pretty mind-blowing to start over...and it sounds like you are totally starting over! I've been out for a little over a year, and establishing all new friendships has been challenging. As a former witness it's almost like your entire history has been taken from you. But it is totally worth it! You can finally base relationships on things you are actually interested in.
here it is 2004 and the society is still holding out the 'carrot' on a stick.this carrot,or 'promised rewards' is still coupled with threats.the threats being do more ,do more, preaching and meeting attendance are vital to your survival of the great tribulation / armageddon that is looming ( new word now being used--ahead )no more dating just ahead.. although the the great tribulation / armageddon is just "ahead",not to worry if its not.even if you lose your life now because of old age,( or waiting for parts of three centuries to taste of this carrot, promised rewards )or sickness,an accident,or persecution, even if this should happen to you, while waiting for the gt/arm.jehovah will resurrect you to life in paradise.. marvelous freedom ahead awaits those chasing the carrot.. blueblades, who cautions that ahead could be an undetermined number of years, that's why the society says "even if you lose your life now because of old age?????".
i read this on another thread:when i asked if they knew my son had clinical depression, they said, well, even he says he feels better when he studies and goes to meetings, and shrugged their shoulders.).
i've been told this by my ex too, that when she attends meetings it makes her feel better.
ray davies from the kinks was shot in the leg in new orleans after chasing someone who stole his girlfriends purse.. apparently he will be ok, and they caught one of the purse snatchers.

i can imagine making a comment at the watchtower study after reading blondie's review and spouting some of her research from the publications to mess everybody up or give a public talk and say something like," as we all know, the society has blundered many, many dates in the past and given some false prophecies, too-----but that doesn't mean we should stop trusting them, now does it????
I've thought about this a lot. My moment would have been during the last talk I gave. The topic was "Mother's Day" and of course, I was supposed to expose it's ghastly pagan roots and explain why True Christians(tm) would have no part in honoring Mothers on this day. There was no way to make it sound like a reasonable argument.
I wish I would have told the audience that life is short, give your Mom a hug, make her a card by hand, and thank her for bringing you into this world.
