  I think both and I think the human race is gradually being prepared for first contact whatever that may be or in what form it takes.

  Consider recent news articles on extra solar planets, one of them supposedly has the right conditions to support life.

  It could be fallen angels and/or holy angels communicating with mankind and either creating/manufacturing these alien craft or casting them so they look real. Or it could be aliens. I don't know.

  One thing for sure is this type of event will become more common and more people will talk about it without being labelled a conspiracy theorist.

  ...Weird Ass Lights in the Sky...

  good evening jwn!!...

  as most of you know i live in a forest,in the mountains..at night there is very little light pollution... so the sky is one big theatre screen... i see shooting stars,northern lights,satellites,planes on a destination..it`s all very beautiful... tonight was different... .

  tonight there was something in the sky that defied anything i`ve ever seen... it had multiple aircraft lights but not like regular airplane lights..it wasn`t a helicopter... it could go straight up or down... move in one direction then head in another..it could do all kinds of weird stuff... sometimes it just hovered..then start doing all these weird maneuvers... regular aircraft is going somewhere,it`s headed in a direction..not this thing... i watched a regular airplane pass it... .

  The elders of the '80s are retiring

  i was catching up on news with a friend of mine from my old hall - a few of the elders have stepped down and some have retired.. these are men who were in their 30's during the 1980's when i was very young - now they are retiring or facing retirement.. i sometimes wonder how they feel after working all those years only to wake up and realize that their working lives are over.. do they ask themselves: what's happened?

  where's armaggedon?

  the day of reckoning has come - the elders who were 30 in 1980 are now 60 years old.

  I was catching up on news with a friend of mine from my old hall - a few of the elders have stepped down and some have retired.

  These are men who were in their 30's during the 1980's when I was very young - now they are retiring or facing retirement.

  I sometimes wonder how they feel after working all those years only to wake up and realize that their working lives are over.

  Do they ask themselves: What's happened? Where's Armaggedon? Why hasn't it come?

  Watchtower Meetings: Catholicism and Collapse?

  if you are an old timer (with a good memory), you can clearly see the downward trend within witness meetings.. for example: at one time, the theocratic ministry school had a written review that was turned in and graded and handed back like any exam!

  now, i observe the school talks done at the last minute by people grabbed to fill in - and the talks themselves require little or no effort , at that.. who comments?

  Watchtower closing Ireland branch?

  i just heard from a friend who attended the convention that the ireland branch is being closed and oversight is being transferred to the uk branch.. does anyone have any more information on this?.

  Did you ever try any of the awkward, and somewhat creepy suggestions in the KM for Informal Witnessing?

  the august km, has an article entitled, "you can witness informally!

  " this week's service meeting will cover half of the 13 questions.

  next week, congregations will finish the article along with a box full of several experiences with successful results from informal witnessing.

  I used to go out with an early morning car group at 4am and we would visit hospitals and leave literature in the waiting area, visit gas stations and talk to the attendants and leave tracts near ATM machines. It was ridiculous.

  A ministerial servant once told me he heard two pioneer sisters contemplating getting their time in by witnessing at Newark airport for whole days at a time - bizarre.

  We used to do street work at 7am, walking up and down main street giving out magazines to anyone who passed by whether they wanted one or not.

  You would see brothers and sisters standing by themselves, in the freezing cold sometimes, holding up magazines and not saying anything when someone passed by.

  does anyone have any interesting observations since the book study arrangement in private homes finished?.

  are jws happier with the extra night off?

  Thanks for your observations - very astute.

  Yes, I felt some would be discouraged - especially for bible students who could only answer up in small groups, and yes, you're right, the elders were generally more relaxed, especially if they conducted the book study in their own home.

  The after the study cake, tea etc was the only interaction for many, especially the older ones. I know that not all groups had refreshments after the meeting.

  You know, it makes me wonder, how on earth do dubs socialize other than the fleeting minutes they spend with each other at the hall?

  Not Getting Over It! Ex-JWs Face Residual Psychological, Physical Damage

  these are just a few personal observations from someone who lived, breathed and.

  slept the jw religion for over 50 years.

  Thanks for sharing your experience with us.

  Although my situation is different, I can relate somewhat, having been a born in and leaving after 30 years.

  The longer you are in the harder it is to leave and recover. For many of us, being a JW was part of our identity for a very long time. We were encouraged to be witnesses 24 hours a day. We ate, swallowed and digested their "spiritual food at the proper time" for years. For many of us, our entire childhood and teen years were influence by the Watchtower.

  Those of us born in the truth accept that this is/was our life - it is part of our past, our history, our culture. Our lives centered around meetings, ministry, assemblies, conventions, memorials etc.

  I found that after I left, I had lost continuity with the past. I can't ever go back there; I wouldn't want to go back there. I have friends and family still in.

  It feels like I have been reincarnated as myself, with a new life while still retaining memories of my old life.

  The only thing we can do is move on as best we can, find new interests and hobbies and try to help those who want to be helped out the organization.
