Lesabre,
I get it, it's just convenient to use.
i for my part do not believe there is a satan the devil.
he does not exist.
there is a creator, but no oposite number, no satan.

Sab,
Yes, you're right - you would think that superior intelligent creations would do something purposeful with their life - unlike humans who come under the ransom sacrifice, the fallen angels do not - they know they have a death sentence hanging over them and there is nothing they can do about it.
When you're created perfect and sin wilfully, there is no place to go but down.
Some fallen angels delight in terrifying people because they can do so and they have plenty of free time since they no longer carry out their original assignments.

The bible makes it clear that Satan is good at deception. Those that believe in him, especially the demons, fear him. Others that don’t believe, he either makes believers out of them, by having his demons have some fun at scaring them. That’s how the demons view it. They do things and then watch for response. If your hair goes up on the back of your neck and your pulse is racing, they get a good laugh out of terrorizing you. If you could see them do it you would be angry at how funny they think it is to screw with you.

Sab,
Considering their limited powers, I would say the the most dangerous (or scary) things they have done to individuals I know is haunting them, hiding objects, partial materialziations and audible noise.
The real power they possess is to confuse people and make them believe things other than what the Bible says. Why is this dangerous?
Jesus said, do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul, rather be afraid of the one who can destroy body and soul

LeSabre,
If we're quibbling over names then fair enough, but the bible makes it clear which angel fell.

All of God's intelligent creations have free will, including the angels.
It was on his own accord that Satan became evil by going against the will of God.
“You were in Eden, the garden of God. Every kind of precious stone covered you: carnelian, topaz, and diamond, beryl, onyx, and jasper, sapphire, turquoise and emerald. Your mountings and settings were crafted in gold; they were prepared on the day you were created. You were an anointed guardian cherub, for I had appointed you. You were on the holy mountain of God; you walked among the fiery stones. From the day you were
created you were blameless in your ways until wickedness was found in you.” Ezekiel 28:12-15 (HCSB)

Sab,
The Bible was completed 2,000 years ago so it is impossible to say what the most dangerous thing they have done in our time could be, many would have their own views and opinions, but I believe that we are in a spiritual war and they are the most dangerous foe we could have.
i for my part do not believe there is a satan the devil.

Matthew 4:1-11 Did Jesus recognize Satan as being real, or do you think he was talking to the evil from within? If you think the latter, keep in mind that Jesus was perfect and without evil.
What got Satan stripped of his power to enter a dead human and masquerade as a deceased person? Jude 9. When Satan wanted to fool the Israelites in the wilderness after Moses' death by entering Moses body and appearing to come back to life in the flesh, he was opposed by Michael. Only through casting a visual manifestation can they perpetrate fraud.

Sab,
I didn't understand your comment - assuming you don't believe that's fine, everyone has free will to believe what they want.
Satan comitted the first sin because he is described as the father of the lie

Sab,
How powerful are they?
Not as powerful as they used to be. Before the flood, they could materialize into flesh and blood human beings and procreate but this power was taken away shortly after they rebelled.
They do have the power to materialize, that is they use their shell energy to manipulate their appearance all done by the catalyst of pure thought. It's called casting and is what gives them their "arms and legs".
Consider more of their nature...
Matthew 12:43 "Now when the unclean spirit goes out of a man, it passes through waterless places seeking rest, and does not find it. “Then it says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came’; and when it comes, it finds it unoccupied, swept, and put in order. “Then it goes and takes along with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there; and the last state of that man becomes worse than the first."

Scooby-Doo,
I agree partly with what you said - it is not a sin to hold an opinion - it is a sin to act on it if it defies the will of the Creator.
In the beginning of Mankind’s creation, there was light - in that all of creation was in harmony with the Creator’s will. The son of the Dawn, the Shining Morning Star, was placed over the planet Earth and the human family that God's son the Word had created to inhabit the Earth. Satan was the first to commit sin.
“Shining morning star, how you have fallen from the heavens! You destroyer of nations,
you have been cut to the ground.” Isaiah 14:12 (HCSB)
Satan’s rebellion was a direct challenge against God's right to rule creation by righteousness. God accepted the challenge, and this is when the light was taken away from the world, because the first human subjects joined Satan in the rebellion. This was the beginning of the Spiritual War
