everyone has different views about life after death and whether or not it is a possibility.. as jehovah's witnesses, we were always taught that there is no life after death, that this is the only life we have now and that the wages of sin is death.. .

Down through the milleniums, humans have suffered the judgment of vessel death and complete death for those involved in judgments. Adam and Eve are a prime example and those who died in the flood are another.

Adam and Eve aged to death, but were under judgment of wrath. God simply let them age to death so that they could see what they had lost over the period of time they lived and so they could view the badness associated with their rebellion.

This natural death that occurs is because since the time that sin entered the fleshly creation, all have died off the planet in successive generations in keeping with God's altered plan. Even those of the pre flood era eventually passed over before a thousand years would be marked in a natural aging of the vessel and mortal death occurred.

I've read a few interesting concepts about the Spirit Realm.

The Spirit Realm is not just another dimension but it is all around us and consists of upper and lower planes.

When we die, we pass over. At that time we are educated about the Creator's sovereign laws and the spiritual war and are given a choice of which side to choose.

Those who choose God's side pass through the light and become Holy Ghosts.

Those who do not become converts, that is they become converted to Satan's way of thinking.

Children who die pass over immediately and receive their inheritance. They have special status with the Creator.

Persons guilty of vile acts are spiritually tagged. When they die and pass over, they are apprehended by angelic deputies who take the criminal to the presence of the Almighty. There, witnesses replay what the criminal has done and sentence is passed. The offender is taken to a dark realmof imprisonment until the final judgement.

Occasionally, people who are murdered are so distraught over their death that they never leave the lower planes and may haunt the place of their passing or even the person who killed them.

it was a beautiful, sunny day.

i was in the supermarket doing an early morning shop when i see an old friend of the family, a jw sister.. she asked me if i'd gone to the memorial and i told her no.

she said that the end is so close what with all the earthquakes and brother truthseeker, you need to come back to jehovah otherwise you will die and so will your children.

You are a friend and yet it didn't bother her to tell you that you are going to die? Why do people think they have to take that kind of talk ..the JW's aren't made of porcelin, they won't break. Speak up and defend yourself. Tell them that there is seriously something wrong with someone that would tell another human being that..and she needs to reread her bible without the WTBTS telling her how to interpret it. They use scare tactics to keep their people in line ..just like any other cult! Tell it like it is..if someone can tell me something like that you better be sure they will hear something back! No one is telling me ( or my kids) something like that without a reaction, a strong one. They will think twice before throwing the "I love you and don't want to see you destroyed" plea on me! I hope your kids weren't in earshot of her beating up on you (with tears in her eyes ).they will take your silence to say that she was right...

This sister watched my kid during the day so we could go to work and is also a friend of a relative so I have to be discreet in what I say. It's not easy - and believe me, if it were anyone else I would have said things differently.

I give you credit for defending the Watchtower and its beliefs, many years ago I did the same thing.

I know all the arguments and used them myself, but things are different now.

Wow, this thread has gone off at a tangent! Still, interesting to read the replies.

This sister I spoke with, she is a family friend and often asks us to come visit her, of course we can't since we're completely out.

I felt bad for her because she really does love Jehovah and her daughter recently got baptized.

It's one of those situations where it sometimes best to say nothing. I hope I don't run into her again.

When did this forum go apostate?

i was curious because i had heard simon was a jw when he started this forum.

i was looking through the old posts, but couldn't really pinpoint one that was a "turning point" so-to-speak.

simon must have left the j-dubs at some point.

I think it was 2001 when the site went apostate. I first visited the site in 2000 and it still seemed to be proJW.

All the JW sites started off good and slowly went apostate.

Had the magazines left at my house today and wanted to "SCREAM" after reading this article in the May 1,2011 WT

the article that caught my eye as i was thumbing through it was on page 18 entitled "a peaceable people defend their good name".

this was all about the issues being addresssed in russia and how the j.w.

's were being oppressed/repressed.. but if you look in the box to the left under "a note to the citizens of russia", you will see that they quote the scripture in luke 12:2 "there is nothing carefully concealed that will not be revealed, and secret that will not become known.".

The Watchtower have perfected the art of lying and doublespeak.

Their literature is extremist. Just because they don't get involved in war or violence, this does not detract from the fact that they break up families.

Because I know this sister and she is a friend I didn't say anything. I did get an invite to the special talk. I've read about people here having conversations like this, and until today I didn't really give it much thought, but to be told you and your children will die if we don't serve the Watchtower God is deeply disturbing.
