The canopy that shrouded the earth before the flood had its floodgates opened and that’s where much of the water came from; also, the underground springs sprang forth. Before this the entire earth was like a hot-house. After the canopy fell, the Poles were frozen, that's why green vegetation can be found in the ice.

Elderlite,
The flood served three purposes:
a. Removal of wicked people
b. Forcing the angels to dematerialize
c. Destroying all vestiges of the old system, including the secrets of heaven given to preflood humans by the fallen angels.
Everyone else, I understand where you're coming from with the maths and science stuff. It happened a long time ago. We weren't there to see it. Miracles happen. This is speculation, but I think the water canopy is right where the North and South Poles are.
I'll write more later today.

AllTimeJeff,
Thanks, appreciate your comments. Each one must be comfortable in their own beliefs. I'm not a JW anymore so I could study the bible on my own, which is hard to do without WT programming.

Yan,
I believe what the Bible has to say because I have faith in it. Some might scoff at this but I think it better to have some measure of certainty. I think some of the reasons people deny the Flood is because they think in human terms, they can't measure it scientifically so therefore it couldn't have happened.

You're scenario doesn't quite fit but I do understand where you're coming from and I'm sorry I don't have a better answer.
The fallen angels were created perfect and when you fall from perfection there's nowhere else to go but down, that's why they have a judgement hanging over them and we have Christ as our savior.

God gave the angels said powers, but we have free will and so do they and they abused their free will.
I don't pretend to understand it myself, but that's the best answer I can think of.

Yan, I get your point, but God's thoughts are higher than our thoughts.

Terry,
Did you ever consider that flooding the earth was done for more than one reason?
God forced the fallen angels to return to the Spirit Realm by flooding the Earth. The flood served as a dual purpose because it was also a judgment for those living on the planet. The angels that committed themselves to flesh and blood were connected to a virtual death with them unless they dissolved the human vessel and severed their chords. If God had chosen not to permit a searing of the chord when they dematerialized they would have been spent energy. Once the fallen angels had dissolved their fleshly containers and were back in the Spirit Realm, they were stripped of the power to materialize again in the fashion they had once possessed.

Serious discussion: Why our Brain cannot take us to God
by Terry inwe have brains and can think.. when we talk about god we leave behind material, physical sensible "things".
it is the voice of intellect not brain.
the proof is in the pudding.. the voice of god would not be mans voice.. intellect is our vehicle and it is not the atoms of a meat brain, nor vegetables nor poetry.

Terry,
I understand what you are saying, but it comes down to this.
The scientific mind cannot grasp the invisible spirit realm and its Creator because they think in terms of human logic. That’s why God says they cannot come to fully know or understand how it works. They are stuck in a rut of simplistic human minds. What they seek to find out scientifically does not exist on a chart or scale that they can ever come to understand.
The scientist Michael Faraday is considered to be one of the greatest physicists. When questioned on his speculations of a life after death, Faraday replied: “Speculations? I know nothing about speculations. I’m resting on certainties. I know that my Redeemer lives, and because He lives, I shall live also.”

Why don't the Watchtower just say that Jehovah's chariot is moving to Walkill because of the toll increases on the bridges and tunnels.
