dear friends,.
it has been a long time since i have posted.
time heals much pain, and finally, my family and i have been able to move on with our life outside of jw land.. many of you became our friends, our support system, and you know very well our exit story...we were labeled, slandered and disfellowshipped for having questions regarding the date 607. we sent out letters exposing the elders and circuit overseer to over 200 families.
Congratulations LadyLiberty and to your daughter too!

i've been in lurkmode lately, but with the news that i heard about don cornelius dying, it had me thinking...as this world goes on, and people are coping with this world...i think a lot jw's are going to realize that the end of the world isnt coming...there gonna become more despert, the realities of having to work, pay off debts, etc.
a lot of jw's are going to realize that no magical sky daddy is come and 'take away there problems' and i think the more that they start to realize this, they get older, and there gonna start hating the reality that they have to face.
i had a good friend who's father-in- law (who was a ministrial servant) who had bipolar disorder, killed himself in his car back in 2007. it was sad.
Joliette,
I think you're right. No one could have imagined being here in 2012 on this side of the system. JWs have nothing to look forward to except more of the same.
I get the feeling that the Society has been on auto-pilot for many years. They have created a machine that prints endless books, magazines, tracts, schedules, Memorial announcments and convention programs, year after year.
There is nothing new under the sun. All the JWs can do is keep going through the endless motions year after year, doing the same thing while expecting different results.

british dubs are invited to attend a special convention next summer in dublin , irish republic.
o k, this kind of trip has been done many times before.
however i have never seen such a crude and rigid set of rules that would apply to their own people going on a trip, at their own expense of course.
Cedars,
Thanks for the information.
I wonder why they are doing this? In a global depression where people are losing their jobs, homes etc, why are the GB hosting an expensive "special" convention in Dublin? What is the point? What will be said there that regular dubs don't already know?

Without restating the Bible, I would surmise the excess water is where the North and South Poles are.
How about you tell me where the water from the Poles came from?
I might have said more, but Cofty disqualified me from further discussion :)
Then they have forfeited their place in any rational discussion.
Elderlite,
I understand the question, but suppose you look at it from his point of view. He views the Bible as having authority, therefore he quotes from the Bible to come to a conclusion.
This is not a bad thing in itself.
I could quote to you from a book on astronomy and give you the reference. You might take what I say as truth because I am quoting from a published work.
In this situation, you have a book, or 66 of them, that are believed by a lot of people to be God' Word. That is all the authority they need.
The doubters and skeptics don't believe the Bible or only believe portions of it, therefore they cannot accept the Word as the final authority on anything.
This is a situation where neither side can convince the other side of their viewpoint. It's not check mate, it's stalemate.
Poopsie,
No offense taken, I can laugh at myself :)
BTW Elderlite, I am also taking the discussion seriously, I'm not a troll
Round 4....
Cofty, I see what you're saying about Dr. Mortenson. I agree that there is bias there but having said that, I don't think it's impossible to be a scientist and a Christian. I see no problem with using science to prove the Bible, unfortunately, this does not go down well in the academic world.
Although his education is quite diverse, I would not say he knows nothing about geology, to get a Phd would require a peer reviewed dissertation. It's no cakewalk.
I used his example of the depth of the flood waters because he said it better than I could and thetrueone wanted to know how high the flood waters were. All I did was look on the net, no harm in that.
I think the scriptures are saying that the height of the water was 15 cubits above the highest mountain, that's why when the waters went down, the ark rested on a mountain.
I have to go now but will be back later to check for updates.
elderlite,
I asked someone about the warlock appearing on TV, apparently it was a talk show interview that was broadcast sometime in the '90s.
I am not using this as evidence for my beliefs, it was just an interesting experience to relate.
