Compound,
Thats amazing to connect with classmates from 60 years ago! I started reaching out to my mom JW family and it has been great getting to know them after all this time.
i was in my old stomping ground a couple of months ago and happened to be walking past the home of an old family friend.
word is in the hall that i used to go to is that "i am one of them" meaning apostate.
no one from my old hall has contacted me to find out what happened.

Konceptual99, thanks for the offer, I may just take you up on that.
flipper, thank you for your advice and encouragement.
steve, yes, I agree with your thoughts on this.
At the time, before I learned TTATF, I didn't think of friendships being conditional. They just were.

i often wondered how far back the witnesses had been involved with my family.
my grandmother died at the end of 2013 and while going through her photos we found some of my great-grandmother, dora, who was born in 1901 and died in 1994. there is a photo of dora dated 1946 standing outside her house in east riding, yorkshire.
on the back of the photo her husband had written "in a human moment before jehovah grabbed her".. my great grandfather, who died before i was born, did not like the witnesses.
Peter,
I had no idea the name of Jehovah was used other than by the Witnesses. Thanks for sharing.
Smiddy, yes, def a lie the JWs told us, that they're the only ones who use God's name.
Xanthippe, thank you!
Freddo, that was my take on it as well. They divorced in the 1960s. My grandmother was more zealous in the truth than her mother. Thanks for sharing your story with us. I agree the org is slowly dying it off, the zeal and commitment just aren't there plus social media is killing them.

My grandmother as a baby circa 1930..She lived to be 84 and died 3 years ago. Lived near the seafront between Chichester and Brighton. Despite disability, she preached whenever anyone came in her flat, she would go on the seafront in her buggy and hand out Awake and Watchtower magazines. Have to admire her determination.
