Poopsiecakes,
I'm assuming you and everyone else here does not believe the bible. There are many references to the flood.
2 Peter 2:4-9 For if God didn't spare the angels who sinned, but threw them down into Tartarus and delivered them to be kept in chains of darkness until judgment; and if He didn't spare the ancient world, but protected Noah, a preacher of righteousness, and seven others, when He brought a flood on the world of the ungodly; and if He reduced the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to ashes and condemned them to ruin, making them an example to those who were going to be ungodly; and if He rescued righteous Lot, distressed by the unrestrained behavior of the immoral (for as he lived among them, that righteous man tormented himself day by day with the lawless deeds he saw and heard— then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials and to keep the unrighteous under punishment until the day of judgment"
Jeffro,
No sir, I will not.
Oh, is there anything about the Bible that you agree with?

When you can build something bigger than a toy boat, let me know how your math works out.
New American Standard Bible (NASB)
14 Make for yourself an ark of gopher wood; you shall make the ark with rooms, and shall [a] cover it inside and out with pitch. 15 This is how you shall make it: the length of the ark three hundred [b] cubits, its breadth fifty [c] cubits, and its height thirty [d] cubits. 16 You shall make a [e] window for the ark, and finish it to a cubit from [f] the top; and set the door of the ark in the side of it; you shall make it with lower, second, and third decks.

When a person doesn't believe in super natural miracles why bother arguing matters.
My point precisely.
thetrueone,
Why should I believe you over the Bible? What makes what you have to say so more convincing that what the Bible says? You can't offer me salvation.
Ah Jeffro, the super atheist, good to hear from you
EntirelyPossible,
The ark was a delivery vessel.
Why did God bother to have the Ark built? Why did Noah and his family use tar to seal out the waters?
It is because God expects a measure of willingness from each person to work towards their own salvation.
Much probably happened during Noah and his family's stay on board the Ark. There were earthquakes and undersea volcanic eruptions. The result was the receding of the waters were not to their original boundaries.
Land masses under went change from caverns, rising land masses and trenches that were created from God's hand being involved. This altered the original water boundaries and created new ones.
New International Version (NIV)
18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit. 19 After being made alive, [a] he went and made proclamation to the imprisoned spirits— 20 to those who were disobedient long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built. In it only a few people, eight in all, were saved through water, 21 and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also—not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a clear conscience toward God. [b] It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ, 22 who has gone into heaven and is at God’s right hand—with angels, authorities and powers in submission to him.
