Brother Brumley appearing before a US Congress Commission is similar to the Apostle Paul appealing to have his case heard before Ceasar, so it's all cool. -

Question About the New Headquarters at Warwick
by Wild_Thing inthe jws are known for building kingdom halls and assembly halls with slave ...er i mean ... volunteer labor, but this new self sufficient headquarters seems a bit more complex.. so who's building it?
did they hire a firm with educated engineers and architects who know what they are doing?
or are they still using billy*, who learned how to lay tile from his uncle bob*?.

Wild_Thing, according to one of the monthly broadcasts WT has indeed farmed out the crane and iron work to an outside contractor. That is not to say that all-stars from the local building committees have not been leaned on (encouraged) to sacrifice vacation time for the project. I know of brother an elder who owns a construction company (much like in the prodigal son video) who recently returned home after several years at the site for reasons unknown. I heard second-hand that the reason for his return was not encouraging to put it mildly. -

death at the 'memorial'
by eyeuse2badub ini just got the news from our former congregation in hollister, ca regarding a tragic event following the 'memorial' wednesday night.
we shared the kh with 2 spanish congos.. a couple from the spanish congregation were leaving the kh so that the next spanish congo could have their 'memorial'.
they exited the parking lot in their car when hit by an oncoming car right in front of the kh.

My apologies for the tasteless joke. My intent was to highlight the lack of empathy and concern for the welfare of the flock shown by the Org. -

cleaning at bethel
by pepperheart inhas any body else heard this that they are asking members of different congs in new york to go and clean at bethel for free,if this is true then it really shows that the borg is short of money and might even be crumbling before our eyes

Cleaning is something all JWs have the privilege of doing at KH, how ironic indeed. -

Ex elders vs. Current elders
by dothemath inin our congregation there are now more ex-elders than current ones.
(probably very common).
what i notice most of all, is that the ones who were the best speakers (we actually had some good ones) are the ones who have all stepped down.. i'm of the opinion the better teachers recognize its all a joke, and can't be bothered to reach out again.. so the ones left who are taking the lead are the most boring ones available.

The current Elders in our Congos would never dream of stepping down, no way. I can only think of one ex-elder who now sits quietly in the back row, not wanting to be bothered. He is still in because of his aging JW mum. -

That is one a hell of a sad story. RIP, Jim Olson. Reminds me of a the Midnight Oil tune "Power and the Passion" that says:
People, wasting away in paradise
Going backward, once in a while
Moving ahead, falling behind
What do you believe, what do you believe
What do you believe is true
Nothing they say makes a difference this way
Nothing they say will do

Assembly Hall selling HVAC machines
by StarTrekAngel innot going to disclose a whole lot of details because it will implicate someone else without their consent.
someone very close to me, who is a non-baptized publisher (for almost 3 years now), went to work to the local assembly hall.
recently, they removed the existing hvac machines and replaced them with new ones.

This type of equipment has a reasonable service life of at least 15-20 years if designed, installed and maintained according to manufacturer's specifications. If there is in fact a problem with mold, then the entire system including duct-work would need to be gutted and replaced. This is a very labor intensive job because of mold remediation that needs to be performed before the new equipment is installed. It sounds like the AH maintenance servant or local big shot elder is fishing to make some easy money at the expense of the House of God. -
