you guys have piqued my curiosity. so what are the consequences of partaking when you shouldn't and how do they possibly intend on judging who should and who shouldn't?

it is defnitely going to be awkward but you're better off taking a stand now than allowing this one exception which your in-laws could use to start planting little seeds in your children's heads. I told my parents before my first child was even born that I did not want them talking to her about anything religious until she was an adult. I want her to have a childhood free of guilt. they said they respected my wishes and so far it hasnt been an issue.

Remembering the Truth
by ScoobySnax ini have no argument left in me, and no desire to fight really.
when i was inactive i used to look at ex-jws with placard boards outside assemblies or conventions, i knew these people existed even if they were a bit "wacky".
i always used to wonder why these people did this, and to be honest i didn't like them, they looked creepy stood there with their flip charts outside a stadium.

when i first left 7 years ago I always figured I'd be back some day but now i know that there is no way i could evr go bck and i feel great about that, i dont have the perpetual guilt anymore. now i just wait on my family to open their eyes, they will eventually, i just hope that it will be sooner rather than later.

"Bush fiddles with economy while Baghdad burns"
by Simon inan interesting article which somewhat reflects my own take on what i see happening.
please note that this does not put any judgement on whether i think it is a good thing or not so please do not "shoot the messenger".. whether you believe or accept the points or not it is an interesting read.
i personally think that the action bush has taken in the last few years has done more harm to the usa than it's enemies ever could which is surely a crime?..

and i might add that the threat of losing one's livelihood is just as strong a deterrent as a fine or other legal consequence.

it is a ludicrous accusation to say people are having their freedom of speech curtailed
true there are no laws limiting people on the left to voice their opinions, however the political climate is becoming very Mcarthy like in that saying anything anti-war or against the gov't's policies is equated with being anti-american and thus sowing the seeds of growing intolerance and loss of freedom. michael moore can say whatever he wants because people expect that of him but the dixie chicks may have committed career suicide for one statement and the subsequent backlash; not very different from what happened to anyone accused of communism back in the 50's

For those of you with personal experiences with the GB...
by logansrun inlet me start off by saying that i am fully and utterly through with the jws from both a logical and emotional point of view.
i'm happy and content in my decision to leave.
but one thing that i find very curious is the personalities of the gb members themselves.

Should WOMEN Serve in Combat???
by JT infor anyone who knows me, i have always been a very strong support for women's right to do as they please in life, but today we had a very interesting discussion about this issue>.
this is to me one area where i wonder is it really the best thing to do, not so much because of how we in the west perhaps view women in positions and power, but how women are often times viewed by those that we maybe at war with.
culturally as men we have been conditioned to protect the woman- in fact in almost all cultures that i can think of that basic mindset is held by most men i would dare say-.

i'm sure they will take you even if you dont make weight the military has waivers for these kind of things, but i would recommend at least getting your stamina up cause you dont want to stand out in basic by say not being able to complete a run or something like that. blend in as much as possible. and dont volunteer for anything
