Why are you even on here then? If have "moved on" then why are u on an ex-JW board. Personally I think its fun to reminisce about my life as a "dub", I'm sure many find it therapeutic. Its like remembering the stupid outfits you used to wear in the 80's cause it was in style and laughing at yourself about it.

What I Don't Miss at a District Convention
by simplesally inname the things you don't miss about going to a dc!
---getting there so early and then find that the "servants" have saved all the good seats
---not having time to make a decent lunch and getting admonished about not buying from nearby vendors.

Having someone pass a note to my father (elder) saying how me and my friends were talking and laughing during the session which meant that not only did I get my ass chewed and probably grounded but I had to sit with my parents the rest of the convention.

Do you remember why the "donation" arrangement came about?
by Jourles inover ten years ago when the society changed their format from a contribution basis(pay us for the literature) to a complete donation arrangement, what were you told as to the reason for making this change?
simplification?
easier on the brothers to receive literature?

No religion or religious activity should be tax exempt, I think this is just on of the vestiges from the time when church and state were one and the same. Really there is no logic to it in this day and age. Funny why Sean Hannity, Bill Oreilly and the like never go off on one of their tirades about that.

Is There Something You Want To Get Off of Your Chest or Vent About???
by minimus inone of the great things that this board offers is the ability to express yourself.
sometimes, things we couldn't tell a person to their face, we can express here.
or we might be able to give of ourselves, our experiences, our joys and frustrations......you name it!.......regarding my vent, it is that i can't understand why some post on these boards and yet are very pro witness.

Did you take down notes at the meetings?
by JH inwere you the type to always jot down every little detail the brothers said from the podium?.
i found it amusing when especially sisters were always writting notes in their pads when the brother was giving a talk in the front.. i wonder if it was because they found the topic interesting, or because they wanted to look as if they were learning something.. i was all ears, but never took down notes.
that's odd, coming from a person who is "visual".

somtimes, i mostly doodled. me and my friend got in trouble for drawing on the pictures in tha magz and adding captions. i also used to tally how many times the speaker said a certain word. and i would race my friends to see who could look up the scripture the fastest.

Political campaigns disgust me
by Reborn2002 ini do not care if you endorse the republican party, democrats, independents, or even the green party.
but to see such inordinate amounts of money go into campaigns disgusts me.
the economy is flailing and people are homeless and starving, all the while these fatcats live high off the hog and mingle at dinners while kissing one another's asses.. this is not a post directed specifically at any candidate.

i probably overgeneralized about CEO's but I was talking more about the michael eisners, steve jobs, bill gates etc. anyway the thread was about political campaigns. i just get annoyed when people want to criticize athletes and entertainers for the money they make, if we didnt watch them they wouldnt make that much money. its the same as when people blame our economy's problems on welfare, it just distracts from the more important issues.
