WHOAH (Midnight Oil)
The Lord is my temple
God is by my side
You pay rates on that temple
Build materials at the side
He gives reasons
To get through the day
He doesn't have rinse action
He just says
Whoah, oh
Don't wanna see you back here again
Whoah, oh
Whoah, oh
Don't wanna see you back here again
Whoah, ohGirls are not smiling
The stars have gone out
The man with the landslide
Got his head in the ground
Like an unopened letter
Left under the door
He says: "I am the answer you're looking for"
Whoah, oh
Don't wanna see you back here again
Whoah, oh
Oh no
Whoah, oh
Don't wanna see you back here again
Whoah, ohWhoah, oh
Whoah, oh
Whoah, oh
Don't wanna see you back here again
Whoah, oh
Whoah, ohAbove we dream in Andropovosphere
Who maintains the drunken machinery
Below we dream of a time
When those men come from West PointWhoah, oh
Don't wanna see you back here again
Whoah, oh
Whoah, oh
Don't wanna see you back here again
Whoah, ohWhoah, oh
Don't wanna see you back here again
Whoah, oh
Yeah
Whoah, oh
Don't wanna see you back here again
No, I don't wanna see you again. -

Persecution of JWs in Israel
by Asylum Researcher ini'm researching the question of whether a jw would have reason to fear persecution in israel.
i'd appreciate any info either supporting or refuting such persecution.
thanks.

I can't say, but as Isreal does have mandatory miltiary service (which I hear is still very dificult to hedge out of) then that could be a problem for Isreali converts. I have trouble imagining many converts to the Watchtower there, anyway, esp among Palestinians as the JW's have a horrid track record at trying to convert Muslims. Perhaps they would do better with the Ethiopean immigrants, there. The Watchtower works best at conversion when it targets the poor, esp in areas that are predominantly already Christian. Their once great success in Japan still puzzles me. I would almost guess that many of the Witnesses living in Isreal were already such before they moved there.

Thanks for the welcome. I didn't realize at the time that the thread was so old. I am still trying to figure out the use of this board. Sorry if my screename seems hard to use. Just think "Gita" and that will be simpler.

Are You Ashamed Of The Way That You Disciplined Your Child?
by minimus inmost articles in the publications recommended physical punishment, (corporal) when disciplining children.
the scripture says that "he will not die" if you beat him.
so many parents literally beat their children.

One of the events that helped me stop going to the meetings was that I was constantly given council on how I should discipline my child when she was little. Kids make little noises. Deal with it. But this one ministerial servant said I should have spanked her, in some conversation to an elder after the meeting. I heard it and walked up to the ministerial servant and said I would much rather hit him then my daughter. His face turned crimson. The elder looked like he wanted to say something, but really, how to you counter that statement?
The next week they made a decision that all parents with children should sit on the back two aisles. Literally. We didn't go to the back of the bus, but instead sat where we always did. My daughter tried singing some kingdom sing after the School was over. She didnt know the words but had some fun with that. Frankly it sounded as cute as a damned Kingdumb Song was likely to get. The same ministerial servant came up and whispered real loud in my ear. "You need to keep her quiet." I grabbed him by the lapel of his jacket (one of those moments when everyone in the Hall sort of stop singing, I guess), and pulled him closer and told him to leave us alone. After that we walked out. There was a perfunctory damage control visit to my house, but that ended nowhere. I have never been back there and of course now after all these years I have no reason to go back, thank God. I'm not mad at the ministerial servant, any longer. He's just some misdirected order-taking order-giving buffoon working his way up the ladder. Who knows maybe he changed his mind. Maybe he is reading this.
I've done some stuff I am not proud of to say the least, but one thing I am happy about is that I never let the Society interfere with taking care of my kids to the best of my ability.

Yeah I was a jerk. Easilly. I probably still am and don't know it, but where ignorance is bliss it is folly to be wise, as they say.

Now that you are EXJW, what do you teach your children about Spirituality?
by LyinEyes inmost of you know that my youngest son, 8, is a little worry wart.......he is always worrying about death, mainly me dying.
he has been to doctors when he was younger for ptsd, ocd, and addh.
what are you doing in teaching your children spiritual things?
-
gitasatsangha
I have adopted an eastern religion as my own since leaving the Jdubs, however I am not teaching that per-se to my children. Several reasons why. One is that their mother has different views. Another is that my choice came after some difficult wandering and searching. Their milage may vary. The children are being raised by principle rather then a book. Kids need love and guidance.
So I teach them the necessary things. We all know it is wrong to murder, steal, etc. That is easy to teach. Some things get more difficult, but can still be answered without having to defer to some book (and those diminishing your role as a parent). If they ask what happens after we die, what to say? No one can honestly say that they know, only what they believe. So I will say I believe, in my case, in reincarnation of the soul, but it may just be that they will feel differently about it when they have had time to really think about it. This may seem to liberal, but after an early childhood of being scared to death of images in the Paradise Lost book, thinking my friends at school would be killed by an almost-evil God, and basically thinking I knew everything about everything, I want them to have a better chance at knowledge and love.

So?
He also thought the affect of gravitational force was instantaneous, which has been proven to be wrong. Why post bullshit?
