i knew some that secretly celebrated thanksgiving, the 4th of july, christmas (the day after) new year's eve, and birthdays.
my family always had a turkey on thanksgiving and we might invite only close friends that we knew would not get stumbled.
I maintain that almost all JWs in the USA celebrate thanksgiving and july 4, whether they admit it or not.

second attempt to get thread up.. when i first joined this site, i seem to remember that there were many defectors from h2o coming over here, but this site was always the underdog.. i have just been to h2o for the first time in around 2 years, and to my astonishment, it is abysmal!!!!.

Freeman, I think to some extent it is looked at from a languge and cultural manner as much or more then by ethnicity and religion. Arab nations and peoples pretty much cover the areas that were under the Caliphs. (well.. not Spain, anymore). So groups as wide apart as Morocco and Iraq are arab nations. However within these nations are many subgroups, like Berbers, Tuaregs, Amazigh, and so forth that might even be completely ethnically distinct.
In the broader muslm world there are non-arab majority-muslim nations, like Bosnia-Herzegovina, Iran, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Indonesia, Mongolia, Pakistan that might side with Arab nations when it looks like the Arabs and/or Islam is threatned, but who ultimately have no love lost for the arab nations.
i haven't been to my circuit assembly yet, but i was told that one of the talks speaks about the horrible sin of being overweight, how jehovah hates fat and how we can not make it in the new world if we are fat.
is there anyone who knows about this?

it's funny though, now that you mention it, Francois,I'm happier now and I don't snack all that often. I eat when I'm hungry. I hadn't much paid attention to that fact.
