Our dear Jackson is sick again . . . . interesting parenting question
by cruzanheart inthis is starting to remind me of my childhood.
of course, the plus side is that i grew out of most of it, but it was hell while it lasted.. jackson (our 8-year-old) had his tonsils and adenoids out the beginning of june, in an effort to help reduce the number of infections and viruses he's been getting.
he's allergic to a lot of stuff, most of which grows in texas (where we live), and we've tried allergy shots on two separate occasions which reacted badly on him.

Oh Nina, I hope that Jackson feels better soon! I hate to see kids sick, breaks my heart.
I was a young parent, having my first son at 20, my second right after I turned 22 and I am also an older parent (IMO) as I had my daughter at 30. I think the only advantage to having kids younger is that simply you are younger. Not always a good thing. I personally have been raising kids for over 20 years (I am 33, I raised my nephew from the time I was 12). I think there are great benefits from being a bit older when you have kids. You have more patience, you have more life experience in general, you can be calmer, etc. Though this obviously does not apply in every situation.
As for Jackson's illness, have you taken him to a Natropath? I am just wondering cause some times they suggest eating honey from your local area that has NOT been pasturized. This is supposed to help with the allergies that come from the pollens etc.

Help, I need some advice

my hubby had a conversation with the male tenant and told him yesterday (without his wife around) that they are going to have to be out by september as this situation is not working for them, us and most importantly our kids (i have 2 kids that have as and stress is not a good thing for them to go through).
he was kind of shocked but was understanding of why this was neccessary.

He was kind of shocked but was understanding of why this was neccessary. He has yet to tell his wife and feels that a "group meeting" is in order to work through the issues.
They have been talking about moving in with his nephew but the male doesn't want his nephew to hear the way she talks to him. This is a huge part of the problem, when they fight they are screaming fights she will tell him to f333 off or to go to h377. She is cruel and nasty to her husband and I know she is going to be nasty to me when she hears this news. I am pretty sure that I can handle anything she is going to throw at me but here is the big thing.
If this ends our friendship can I still stay friends with her husband. To be honest I would, at this point, rather be friends with him. He is so ashamed of the way his wife treats him and I can't blame him. I think he doesn't realize that this treatment that he gets from her is abuse. He says that this is the only thing he has known for so long that he doesn't think he can find anyone else (trust me he can he is "hot").
Can hubby and I stay friends with him if she throws us out of her life? I feel sorry for him, he doesn't have many friends except hubby and I. Also do I tell her that I think she needs psychiatric help? Along with the other million not so nice things I would love to tell her at this point like she is spoiling her kids, she is pushy, controlling and mean?

The one I like to bug my hubby with is when he asks me what day it is I answer
" it is (whatever the day is) all day, until tomorrow!"
Drives him crazy, which is of course why I do it.

When I was 2/3 my cousin pushed me in the lake at the cottage and I can still remember going under the water, it getting darker and darker, then losing consciousness.
Then there was the time my father hit me on the head with the claw end of a hammer, he wouldn't let my mother take me to the hospital cause he was "too upset" to deal with it, she thought I was going to go into a coma/die if she didn't, thank heavens she had some nursing training, I ended up ok (well mostly).
Then there was the time I gave birth to my first child, I hemmoraged and mum and the doc thought that they were going to lose me.
The last time was when my appendix burst and they left me for 3 days before they operated, I technically should be dead from that one but thank heavens the goddess was watching out for me!

Ok my kids call a friend of mine aunt, I married her uncle and now we have a child together so her cousins call her aunt, and she calls their dad uncle. Also my husband's brother married a very nice girl one year after my husband's sister married this girl's uncle! This makes my siser in law her own cousin in law and makes her uncle her brother in law.
On my dad's side he was raised by his grandparents and was raised as his mother's youngest brother, so all his brothers and sisters are really his aunts and uncles.

do i wash my fabric first?
i can't remember and the pattern instructions don't say.. diana

I am going to attempt making a cloak for my daughter from some fabric I have had in storage for years (keep your fingers crossed) with the same pattern my mother used for mine. I am going to give it to her as a fall solstice present.
Her Vovo (portuguese for grandmother) makes wonderful quilts and machine sews them. She often sews alot of the fabric together THEN does the cutting into strips etc. Works well for her. For my daughter's 3rd birthday she gave her a new quilt, a toddler bed sized one instead of a baby sized one that she gave for a shower present. The new one is in pink fabric that my daughter loved when she saw it at Vovo's house, now she will sleep with nothing else since she got it a week ago. (BTW my daughter turns 3 on tuesday, I can hardly believe it!!!)
Ohio, gotta agree, I am so jealous about that machine, never mind I would have to get rid of something in my house to have it, I would do it! LOL Lucky you!
Thanks again you have all been great, I think I will not wash the fabric, I have LOTS of it (got it when fabric was buy one yard get 2 free and I didn't know it so I asked for 3 yards ended up with 9 when I really ended up using just under 2)

Are you black or white ? ( just asking)
by vitty inplease dont take offence but ive just realised something maybe its been touched on before,.but when i was reading the thread on bil cosby i read the one off obviously secret.
now as i am a white person i assumed he was white until he stated he was black.
so when i thought about it, i imagine everyone on this site is white, does everyone who is black imagine everyone else is black, and anyone oriental imagine everyone else is oriental.

As for me many people describe me as translucent, my daughter as well, I am very white skinned, glow in the dark style. LOL
