I don't think group identification requires meetings or formal admission.
Looks like all the posters on this thread are forming an "us", for example. It's just natural, and I think it's okay.
But, group behavior can be very dangerous if people feel permission to do what they otherwise would never do alone. We must stand guard, always.

as i announced some time ago, jwd as it is will not continue .... ... but .... it's clear from people's comments that they do like the site and many would like it or something else like it to continue.. one issue was the forum software that was self-developed and not really in a good state to hand-over to anyone but i've been working on that and can now reveal the first release of what will probably be called jwn (son of jwd):.

it is still work-in-progress so not all features are enabled yet but it will allow you to browse the site in a similar way to this one and it is pointing at the same database (although because of the way the caching works, new posts made on this site won't appear immediately).
I've got to look it over some more. But already I'm impressed.

a couple of months ago i started a blog.
funnily enough, i started it about the same time we knew that jwd would not be staying the same.
i talk about many things there, not just the witness experience.
jgnat, interesting thoughts. I really enjoyed reading through the rest of your blog as well. And I'm left with a feeling of puzzlement: I don't know where you are getting all the time in each day to work, write here, maintain a readable blog, knit, cook, go to the doctor/dentist, etc. You are terribly efficient--and terribly talented. (And I am terribly jealous. )
I would like to have your blog feed to my igoogle page, but I don't know how this can be done. Do you know if that's something you can help enable? I am subscribed to Coco's blog and receive it; I don't quite remember how I succeeded, though. Nothing seems to make it work for yours. So, would you grant a small Christmas gift to me--and perhaps others here who enjoy mulling your thoughts with you?
I've been trying to find a precise date for the closing of JWD. Could you enlighten me on that too, if you know it?

What an interesting idea, even though the tile is only in the shower and on the floor. Multitasking is a challenge to me, but for the sake of godliness/cleanliness, I might find it worthwhile to eat a salad while I shower. The shelves in the bathroom have space for vineagrette. The toothbrush and toothpaste are handily close by.
I shyly admit that while anticipating your reply, I bought some snails and set them loose in the stall. But I expect that with a little garlic I may also have suitable escargot for salad accompaniament. Look how you've inspired me!
Thanks for taking the time to answer my mundane question, when other unfortunate folks are dealing with more important issues (the ungracious beavers come to mind). I will even send extreme closeups of before and after tile shots, if you like, as a way of thanks.

the bible shows two opposing gods.
personally, i believe god is love and the angry god of fear is an imposter.
In this life, we will never totally conquer fear. What we cannot control in life causes us fear and anxiety. Suffering, loss of a loved one and the ultimate fear of dying are all about a loss of control. These things can make us feel powerless. The more we trust God, the less we suffer from fear, but I don't think we can totally escape fear in this present life.
