  Is Wearing a Cross wrong?

  ever since leaving the org 10+ years ago, i have often wondered about wearing a cross and if it is wrong to do.

  i think the jw's see it as an idol, and i do know that the baptists actually pray to the cross because after i left the org, i became baptist for 2 years and they did pray to the big cross on the wall.

  i'm not sure i believe that praying to the cross is such a good thing to do, but is wearing one as a symbol of my belief wrong?

  Hi Ash,

  I wear my cross, not to show others my belief in Christ or anything like that. Most of the time, I wear in underneath my clothing because it is a very personal relationship I have with Christ. I touch it several times throughout the day. It reminds me of the sacrifice Jesus made for all of us.

  BTW, the cross I'm wearing now was a gift I received from an ex-JW who is currently living in Thailand. Just three months ago, he was ready to die at Armageddon. Now he has a reason to keep living.

  Seeing JWs in a positive light.

  not a new light, just a positive light.. sometimes on here i worry that all jws are painted with a bad brush when i know that not to be the case.

  today i was looking after a jw patient on the ward and she was the most wonderful old girl you could meet, she really made me smile, and she was bright as a button.

  later her family came in, who i didn't recognise and they were just as pleasent.

  My JW ex-Husband has no pictures of his non-JW children in his home. He has pictures of other JW Children displayed instead. Our daughters are really hurt about this. How nice is that?

  My oldest son Thomas is still a JW. He is one of the sweetest people you could ever know.

  Only thing I don't get is how he can act like his mother doesn't exist. There's something Not Very Nice about that.

  Ok, I got the call. I am going to be DF'd February 3rd

  just got off the phone with the judicial committee, the same one that i blew off last sunday.

  i wasn't even sure they'd call, but come to think of it, i think that's just what they're supposed to do if i don't show up.

  they called as a conference call (none of them has been willing to talk to me on the phone alone!

  witnesses must always have a clean and pure language to honor god, and must never cuss.

  now imagine an elder accidentally hitting his finger with a hammer...

  what words may he exclaim in this moment of pain?

  Did I challenge my JW husband too much?

  in case all of you don't know, i'm married to a wonderful jw man, for a few years now.

  he was reinstated ater we were married.

  anyway, i have children from a previous marriage and at times disagree with my husband on discipline, how things are explained, etc.

  You've got a tough road ahead of you.

  My ex-Husband was a fine man too and he was the Father of my Children. When I left the JWs, he emotionally abused them behind my back saying things like "You're mom is going to be destroyed, etc. etc." ~ I learned about this stuff after by children were grown. I should never have trusted him but after all, "He Was a Good Man"

  The advice given above to take control of the discipline of your children is Good.

  Vigil for my daughter, please.

  as mentioned in my other thread, my daughter lena is having brainsurgery on monday, jan 24. the surgery will last 6-7 hours, so i'm hoping the board members will be willing to make a special effort tomorrow to send positive thoughts, healing energy, good wishes and prayers her way.

  we are asking that the surgeon's hands be delicate and skillful and that lena does not bleed overmuch and that brain damage be minimal (if not non-existant).

  surgery begins at 8 am eastern standard time (us), but we have to have her to the hospital by 6 am, so this is "good night!

  I feel sorry for people who are addicted to Cigarettes. The additction is very overpowering for most.
