Another Revised NWT Thread - subtly sowing seeds of doubt with chart
by mindnumbed inpages 1744 thru 1746 feature a chart of the kings of the southern kingdom, ending with zedekiah in 607.. praise the new bible and all of the teaching aids .... draw attention to kings list and how convenient that is ... but, strangely, i decided to look up information in an encyclopedia about the different kings, and the dates are not the same ... so i checked a couple of sources and they are all different than the chart in the bible .... why would that be?.

My decision to openly greet df persons in the hall
by Daniel1555 inat the moment i am still going to all the meetings (for family reasons).. we have at the moment 1 df person who regularly comes (already df for 1.5 years).. when i opened him the door i always greeted him but in the hall i didn't as others could see it.. now i decided that my conscience can not bear this any longer.
i will greet him also in the hall or when others are around.. if any elders notice it and talk to me, i tell them my conscience does not allow to not greet that person.. did any of you do that too and have some experiences?.

Adamah said-
If someone really wanted to show TRUE LOVE and help the DFed person, they wouldn't be going to meetings, etc in the first place. The policy is BS, and you can only vote with YOUR feet, accepting a personal responsibility for your helping perpetuate a harmful practice. Your attempts to show basic human compassion is only likely to be read as a sign that some JWs have a sense of compassion, thus confirming that the decision to seek reinstatement is correct (as confirmed by the chilling words of Kidding Me, above who said):

I have been wondering about this more lately. I always smile at DF'd ones, especially the youth. I've heard from some thatgot reinstated that it's encouraging.
Oh Adamah...if it were only that simple. I get what you are saying and in theory, I agree. However, this is not your typical bullying situation that can be resolved by someone taking a stand for the victim. We are talking about a group (including most of the DF'd ones) that are "programmed" to believe that this is the right thing to do.
How would little old me not attending any more meetings show TRUE LOVE and help for the DF'd one?? What would be the result? Will the rest of the organization follow suit? Or will they look at it as if I got caught up in my own feelings with regard to the policy? Meanwhile, the DF'd one I smiled at, could still choose to stay on their road to reinstatement. It would take the majority (not one, several or even an entire congregation) of JWs to follow suit for it to be taken seriously.
My point, everyone would have to be on the same page for this to be effective. I can't even get my own family "awake" and on the same page and I would be of no benefit to them on the outside. The risk has to be worth the reward. Right now it's not for me.
As for showing basic human compassion and thus confirming the decision to seek reinstatement - if the person is attending the meetings, they for the most part have already made a decision to seek reinstatement.
I just feel that there are high days and low days, and if my little smile (or even a discreet hi in passing) can be of some benefit, then why not? Maybe they are on the verge of completely giving up, doing harm to themself or someone else. Just to know that someone still cares could make a difference.

I have been wondering about this more lately. I always smile at DF'd ones, especially the youth. I've heard from some that got reinstated that it's encouraging.
I've went to the car in my drive way to talk to one that came by my home to pick up their child but it seemed that they felt more uncomfortable than I, specifically, saying, "let me go before I get you in trouble." When I responded, "no I'm good", they still said, "I know you are but still, I don't want to take any chances".
So at the hall I only speak openly as necessary, I.e. to say thanks for holding the door, excuse me for crossing over them to be seated. I just really don't want to put them in a position at the hall that could affect their reinstatement.
I don't know, maybe there is a fine line to look for.

I messed up again... Opened my mouth... oh well, we'll see where the cards end
by ILoveTTATT inso i hadn't talked to my friends on facebook for a while because i had been too busy on my page (now two pages) and my job, and my girlfriend.
so i go on my fb account yesterday and i start talking to a "bible study" i had had while in mexico... after learning ttatt, i have dreamed of ways to tell him and his family to stay away from jw's, but i hadn't had the courage to do so because of a) wanting to get my family awakened first, and b) noticing the horribly bad reaction of the very few people i have actually talked to (three persons).... but anyways, i felt the need to tell him, the "bible study"... he is around 15. his mom was inactive for many years until we found her in "service" and then we started her on a study and she came back... at the time, i thought i was doing a correct thing, if i had known ttatt, no way in hell i would have done that.
now it hurts my conscience, although to my credit, i had no idea of ttatt.. so his mom, him, his brother and sister are all in some way or another associating with jw's.. i wasn't intending to talk to him about ttatt, it just happened.... yesterday we started a conversation (a is him, b is me):.

Lol, looks like something I would do.
A few years ago, we were visiting Times Square and as we left the train station, they had a set up like that. Only difference is, they were right in the thick of it, amongst the homeless, break dancers, singers etc. We stopped and talked with them. As I understood it, they were not suppose to approach people, just allow them to come up talk to them. I also understood that this would be done in areas with plenty of foot traffic, such as in large busy cities.
Too funny, they couldn't get far enough from the game population without you popping up.
