oh...we also got into a debate about beards....he mentioned he misses his goatee but is self sacrificing to please jehovah...even our 12 year old jumped in like what??? why would jehovah care about a beard???? funny thing, we were doing family wt study and were on the page with the pic of the apostles and their.....BEARDS!!!!! we had a little fun with that one!
Just a little info on beards. You may have discussed this but just in case, Here's what the bible says at Leviticus 19:26-28. Specifically verse 27.
26 “‘You must eat nothing containing blood. “‘You must not look for omens or practice magic. 27 “‘You must not shave the hair on the side of your head or disfigure the edges of your beard. 28 “‘You must not make cuts in your flesh for a dead person, and you must not make tattoo markings on yourselves. I am Jehovah.
This is where the concepts of no blood, no spiritism and no tattoo are derived from. So why is it NOW okay (not just ok, but required) to shave the beard?
Is it because it's under the mosaic law, and that law does not apply today?
If it no longer applies, does that mean that the other portions no longer apply, such as the restrictions on blood and tattoos? How can we have it both ways? Can we pick and choose what applies today and what does not?

The GB are really going out on a limb with this DF decision
by Quarterback inthis is how a do explained the family business policy re relatives of df/da members.. he said that the expression, "necessary family business," is really not a scriptural term.
it is nowhere found in the bible.
but, out of the kindness of the gb's hearts, they have gone beyond what is written and allowed association among families for necessary business.

Well... I don't know whether to be ever so grateful or offended that the GB went beyond what is written, out of the "kindness of their heart."
How is it decided when Jehovah is ok with acting out of the "kindness of their heart" versus sticking to the scriptures?

Please correct me if I'm wrong or missing something, shouldn't only a portion of what's on the slips be considered towards the new monthly resolution to be sent to the society?
The language is very confusing in the letter. The "slip" resolution from the publisher is to account for donations for local expenses and KH construction. However, the COBE then take that amount and divide between local expenses and the new KH resolution. For example if the slips from last night total $326, and the COBE need to account $200 for local expenses they can make a resolution to "donate" $100 of the $326 for the KH construction.

Does God Command Christians To Go From Door To Door Preaching The Gospel?
by Bangalore indoes god command christians to go from door to door preaching the gospel?.
source:http://www.thercg.org/questions/p070.a.html.
based on a quick reading and misinterpretation of acts 20:20, many believe that the apostle paul preached the gospel of the kingdom from house to house, to those who were unconverted.

New Article on BEARDS and Attire of Jehovah's Witnesses
by jwfacts ini have had requests to add an article about beards and jehovah's witnesses.
it is interesting that there is virtually no statement that says a witness cannot have a beard, yet universally they do not have beards.
i have scoured quotes from all the threads on jwn, all references to beard on the cd watchtower library, and copies of elders letters that i have.
