The dubs at "Witness World" are discussing UN involvement!!!!!
by somebodylovesme ini am a lurker on the "witness world" witnesses-only website.
they are having a discussion because someone during door-to-door service confronted them with the un letter.
they are all saying that it is "obviously made up"... but the person is planning on writing to the society to ask.

Some random thoughts on WT pictures...
by logansrun inin my experience i find that good literature in any field of thought rarely -- if ever -- uses pictures.
watchtower literature, on the other hand, is littered with illustrations.
makes a jw think twice of the quality of their message, no?

(Non-witnesses, "evil people", "bad association" are generally in darker colors)
Except for the women they want you to think are slutty, they wear red.
I have a good idea that would save the WT some $$ though... They should eliminate all color from the Watchtowers - print them like big coloring books and give out Crayola's at the door. At least that would give people something to do during the meetings.

Clapping
by Stefanie ini was just remembering in the hall i attended, the "friends" would clap when someone got reinstated, then they stopped when there was a talk from the platform about it being inappropriate.
i was just wondering why they say something like that.
and it would seem to me that people going back in were doing them a favor, why would they be so cruel.

Instead the Society takes everything down to the lowest common denominator. Let's just assume they're all child molesters! Ridiculous.
I don't really think this is what they are doing. Actually, I think the Society treats child molesters TOO well. Why should they be reinstated anyway? Sometimes it seems they are given more opportunity for redemption than say, (God forbid) a smoker.

You know, in spite of my previous post, now that I think about it I can see both sides of the coin. Let's say someone cheats on his wife and they get a divorce, but he's a good ol' boy so he gets a token 6 month DF then gets reinstated. Imagine how his wife would feel if people actually clapped when he was reinstated.

When they announced my (ex)husband's reinstatement, the people in the congregation clapped, but his a$$hole father just sat there without clapping. I asked him about it later (I've never been a JW - I was just there for the occasion) he politely explained to me that there was no need to clap - his son shouldn't have done anything to be disfellowshipped in the first place, so why should he reward him (with clapping??) for being reinstated. He mentioned that this had been discussed from the platform before and he couldn't understand why people continued to clap. Such a loving man.....

Yeru, I live in North Carolina and I actually talked with an attorney about this a couple of months ago after my split-up. He was willing to take the case, but I "chickened out" after we talked about the time it would involve, the expense, and the potential embarassment. I wish I had the guts to do it. (In his opinion I would probably not win because we had not been married for a long period of time.)
I did watch a good movie on LMN recently about a woman (in the Greensboro, NC area) who successfully sued her ex-husband's Secretary/lover under this law. She won $1 million but I think the verdict is still under appeal. Maybe someone will try it.

Hi Prudie!Quick question: My husband has known a guy since he was 15 when they started to work together. This person became like a younger brother to my husband. Fast-forward: This young man has become a "born-again Jehovah's Witness," and every time he's around my husband, he aggressively lectures him on everything from going to church to quitting smoking. While his intentions are good, this "new person" is not the one my husband wants to remain close with. In fact, he's begun avoiding taking his calls and makes excuses when asked about visiting. Is there a polite way for my spouse to tell this guy that "the new you and the old me aren't compatible any more"?
?Jehovah Dodger
Dear Je,
Quick answer: This is one of those instances where the truth works really well. Your husband should explain his new reticence to socialize by saying that, at his age, he already has a religion and is not interested in being lobbied, even for the Lord or the antitobacco interests.?Prudie, plainly
