How old were you when you left?
by somebodylovesme ini only know a handful of witnesses, but i do know several ex-witnesses.
all of them left in their late teens, which (as i've read here) is pretty common.
i know there are a lot of people here who left later in life.

I used be on AO-HELL for quite some time. Like some of you mentioned, the dial up connection sucks, even on cable modem, I would get bumped offline! Let alone not being able to open many many web pages. I switched over to MSN a little over a year ago and can't complain.

by Mulan ini have gotten a couple of pm's wanting to know how i am doing on the diet.
tomorrow starts week 4, and as of today i have lost 8 pounds.

Help! What would you say as a last word to a JW (ex)freind
by The Leological One ini've read a lot of posts over the last month or so and seek some advice.
although i was never a jw, i had some good freinds who used to be and still seem to be recovering from the influence.
not long ago, i ran into a different jw i knew from a previous job.

Hi Puternut and welcome to the board. I can also relate with you. My family spent our prime years in the borg. (For my mom 20+ years!). Like many have recommended, read the book Crisis of Conscience. It will help you move on to the next stage of your life. I look forward to reading more of your posts.

Thank you everyone for your replies. I guess I will take things slowly and first just cut out the sodas and sweets, but not go to bezerk on cutting out all carbs.

lets sue the watchtower!!
by dustyb ini wonder if a person could get away with suing the watchtower for stressful thinking and loss of life.
because if you think about it, it's illegal to tell people what to do (slavery), but they claim that everyone has the right mind and that they aren't telling anyone what to do.
i wonder if you could get it suggested by the courts that wts tries to control through written language in the watchtower magazine or somethin, iono.

In the long run... you'll lose.
DoubtfullyYours - You are probably right. But we can dream can't we?
For real, the best way to deal with this is to forget it ever was part of our lives and continue on growing in different directions.
If it were that easy to just forget! If you were able to forget all of your JW experiences, good for you! But there are times in one's life where we reflect...I will never be able to fully forget...However, I am able to learn and move on...

Dusty - I'm totally with you. I've often thought about this and how they basically abuse and misguide people. I'd like to sue for missed life/career opportunities.
