Apparently the anti-christ was born in 1969, however the most marked year, every year "gets worse" yet somehow if you do enough research is just as bad as the year before. The years that were horrible for one country may have been a golden age for another country. It's all debatable.

1941 -- 1914
by stillajwexelder ininteresting after the infamous pearl harbor -- many of that "generation" are dying off -- hell it was 60 years ago -- it was a full 37 years after 1914 -- i know 1914 was an important year -- but surely 1941 was more significant -- 1945 with the nuke was also very significant and 1957 with the dawn of the space age -- leaving aside your wtbts prejudices -- which year in the last century was the most marked year?

Troll dolls and Smurfs - oh my!
by Jim_TX inhow many here have in their possession troll dolls or smurf dolls?.
i am not sure about the rest of the world, but here in the states - these were considered 'demonistic' (oooohhhh!
), and were pretty much forbidden in the toyboxes of children.. since i have left, i have acquired a few for myself - one sits on the refrigerator - with a magnet - another on a shelf around here ... somewhere (he seems to walk around on his own *grin*).. sooooo... how about you?.

I remember the smurf thing, actually a funny story about that. At my old cong they had a smurf dress up party at an elder's home. Two weeks later there was a kingdom ministry article about how evil the smurfs were....not a word was mentioned about the party again. The biggest thing was Heavy Metal and Rap music when I was growing up, and of course I had that stuff...well the "Heavy Metal", it worked later on when I got older because I got really into NYC Hardcore music so whenever they'd say "Tim you need to stop listening to the bad influences of heavy metal" I'd say "I don't listen to heavy metal". Twas pretty cool

I've been out since 2000, so just about three years. Of course I was gone long before that. A friend of mine was disfellowshipped and she was pretty much the last string keeping me at meetings. It took about 5 years for me to grow the balls to just up and leave.

Did you look like a Jehovah Witness?
by JH inwere you ever told that you didn't look like a jehovah witness?
i never dressed like one of them unless i was at the hall.
i think that people looking at me would never have guessed that i was a witness.

Well I was kicked out for growing shoulder length hair. Actually when I had short hair I took advantage of it and I spiked it, wore all black and a big spiked dog collar. I don't think I looked like a witness when I wasn't at the hall. Then again who would wear those button down shirts in their free time?

At what age did you join the Witnesses?
by JH in.
at what age would a person have to be to join the witnesses and not suffer too much?.
if they are children, it robs their youth.. if they join in the teens, they won't get a decent education.. if they join at 20 years old, they will have to marry a witness.. if they join at 30, i guess that would be less destructive because they already are married, have children, have a house, an education and a job.. at what age did you join, and how did it affect you?

Bill Bowen's visit to the Kingdom Hall Sunday
by Dogpatch inbill bowen's visit to the kingdom hall:.
i went to the meeting on sunday because i wanted to.
hear the comments on the watchtower study, i knew that someone would say something about dateline or the silentlambs, because the watchtower article being studied is the march first issue that talked about the "slanderous media reports".. .

I thought the "NOT" phrase was extinct, good to see it back in form. Then again I would hate to see it back in style.

Are you a different person now from when you were a JW?
by NaruNaruChan ini got an e-mail today from an old high school friend who, after we met for coffee, said "wow, you're normal again!
i mean, you were boring, stuffy, and generally not much fun when you became a jw.
now you're back to the old so-and-so that i remember, i love it!

Since I never super got into the whole witness mentality I'd like to say that I was always pretty "worldly" however now I don't have to sneek around just to do simple things that everyone takes for granted. I think now that I'm out I am much more honest with myself and others. I also think I'm alot smarter because I have time to think about things. Plus I think I'm a more relaxed person than I already was which is good because then I had a horrible temper and would snap at pretty much everything, now my snapping is reserved for old ladies driving in the high speed lane doing 20 mph.

Post your favorite JW "DEMON" story
by MoeJoJoJo in.
we've all heard different stories floating around our congregations of different ones(bible studies, or brothers or sisters) having an encounter or 'problems' with demons.
what was your favorite?.

SpunkyChick, that happened to me too. I had to get rid of my Nirvana stuff because some "goody-goody" told my mother that they were a "Bad band". I also had to throw out my Sick Sense tape because they had a picture of monks on the cover. As for demon stories here we go. The first is the time I woke up (or should say woken up) promptly at 5 in the morning with a book that I got out of the Library in a shopping bag outside the door. I asked why this was and it was because apparently my mother had a nightmare that was demonistic, now as reason would state it couldn't have been anything she ate, or just a creepy nightmare that we have from time to time, it had to be my book. So hence I had to return the JRR Tolkien book.
The other I heard was much creepier and apparently I was there but I don't remember it happening. My mother and a friend were at a study and this bible study offered them us all orange juice. And sure enough there was three of us and three glasses of orange juice. There was no way she could've known that I was going to be there because my mother had never been on the study before. Now the study continued and lucky me I got to go off and play in the other rooms (just curious what kind of parent lets their kid play in a stranger's house especially when they get the feeling this house is demonized). So the story continues that whenever they would reach for something in their bags the bag wouldn't be where they put it originally, it would either be across the room or in another room all together. Finally after an hour and a half speaking with this woman they decided that it would be better to just leave, well of course the demon followed them home and my mother was attacked in her bed. But tride and truthfully she cried out the name "Jehovah" and the demon let her go.
Personally I think that Demons are a figment of most people's imagination, and the fact my mother had demonistic dreams is a point that reading watchtower material can put some messed up stuff in your head. There's no way that at age 8 I would be having recurring nightmares about Hitler taking over the country and me being put in a concentration camp if it weren't for the various WWII articles my mother read me or that stupid "Purple Triangles" video. Anyone can be simply influenced and I seriously believe that the demon thing is someone's prodding. Feel free to disagree with me. It's just my opinion

More so the disfellowshipped friends I had, I'm trying to find like an e-mail address or a live journal or something. Is there anyway I can do this (other than the search by interest in livejournal.com that is horrible)? Just wondering if there's anyone out there that can help me?

King of North Position-Filled
by proplog2 inridicule of the watchtower shift on "king of the north" is appropriate.
why didn't they hang in there with russia?
i've heard every conceivable speculation about the new improved king of the north.

Russia, Russia, Russia....I remember my mother yelling about how if the US got in a war with Iraq that we would technically be the king of the north. Then the war ended, and now the war has begun. I guess geographically the US is the northern most country involved in this war but the scriptures never said "Struggling, half-witted coke head will follow in his constipated father's footsteps". I always believed the end would come years if not milleniums after my death so I wouldn't speculate as to who the King of the North is because by that time anything could've happened. But if I must speculate at this point I say the only logical guess for the King of the North would be Canada...afterall when all else fails BLAME CANADA (sorry the joke had to be done)
