So what's the point of preaching if God's already chosen who he's going to allow to be un-blinded to truth?

Aw.. the song at the end of the video is a mash-up I made a couple of years ago. It's Anti-Christ Superstar by Marilyn Manson's music with Jesus Walks by Kanye West's lyrics over it. I always thought it was pretty good. I guess I should stick to Kingdom Ministries with peope rapping over it (which was my last video).
I'll have to try that demon story thing some time.

It's actually on the Watchtower Website, type in "Jehovah is not God's Name" and it explains how the translation is incorrect.

Hey Tuesday! Thanks for the reminder about your vids. I had seen them myself a long time ago, but I couldn't remember your username on YouTube.
I was really just making a joke about the ridiculous number of people who have left due to Crisis of Conscience. But thanks for the vote of confidence :)

None of my vids were on the list, I'm slightly saddened
I was hoping your wife could be number 61 to leave due to my videos, I guess she'll have to be 1,000,000th who leave after reading Crisis of Conscience. LOL.

Wow, I am impressed with the mature way you handled your situation when you were so young, and I admire you very much. Your videos were very well done, I think, because you are very articulate and you expressed yourself so well. Was it ever hard to be so diplomatic with your parents about everything? I don't know if I could have stood going into a Kingdom Hall once I no longer believed in the Witnesses' religion. The idea of going into a Kingdom Hall almost makes me feel sick - - all those toxic teachings. What precisely led you to be an atheist? Also, when you called Jeptha's daughter a 'bitch', why did you refer to her with that term? It's such a derogatory word, and I can't see what she did to deserve being called that. She seemed like the quintessential dutiful daughter, no matter what her fate might be. So sad. Anyway, I think you did your videos very well - - hope you do more.
It was very hard at points to not just scream what I knew during studies. I really just answered directly from the paragraph with very little feeling when I was studying. Those years attending the meetings, not saying anything to anyone and when people left that I was close with not running to them and telling them my doubts were without a shadow of a doubt the hardest time of my life. Alot of people talk about how they'd love to re-live their teenage years because it was the most fun they had in their life, for me I wouldn't go back to that time for any amount of money. It felt like my soul was being sucked out.
What lead me to be an atheist was just the continuation of questioning things. Once I started questioning JW doctrine it wasn't long before I was questioning the bible itself. The biggest thing that pretty much turned a corner was when the burden of proof was to disprove that a God exists the only bastion of believing in God is first cause. How life got here, how humans got here, creation of humans are all answered. The only thing that isn't is first cause. However when I shifted the burden of proof to proving their WAS a God there was literally nothing put in front of me AT ALL.
For the Jepthah's daughter there, that's really just a nod to my generation. It's really just an expression based in hip-hop. Which I'm not even really a fan of but I thought it sounded funny. Kind of Chris Rock-ish in nature. I didn't think it was very offensive when I said it but I apologize if I did offend you.

What do you think will happen to cause an exodus or at least push JWs into further obscurity?
by the_dude_abides ini believe someday it will be as obscure and strange as say the russelites.
the meetings will only be attended by ppl over sixty or so and it will hardly be considered anywhere near as significant a religion as it is today.
i wonder what will begin this process.

It's really nothing as big as people say. There just has to be one WELL-KNOWN work that outlines what it's like to be a Jehovah's Witness, why it's exactly like a cult and tells people in no uncertain terms easy to understand reasons WHY the religion is wrong. That's it!
The thing is right now they're thriving on their preaching work, like those preachers who blindside people who don't know about evolution and give them a bunch of false data on it. However if there was a general consensus something people could point to that was easily described and most importantly easily understood then their potential converts would dry up. That would lead to the downfall of the organization.
I wouldn't say a book per say, but a movie would probably be the best bet.

My source of doubt for 607 BCE was a set of Encyclopedias. I wish I could've remembered when making the video I remember the line I used was "If we're interpreting the bible so that Jerusalem fell in 607 BCE then we're interpreting it wrong because it didn't fall then."
The JW teachings are kind of a house of cards in that if you take one away the whole thing falls.
Thanks for the compliment, I really hope it can help some people. It's not something that will make a lot of people happy. It's not a quick easy solution, if your parents are ones that care whether you believe things then as long as you have those two issues the worst that will happen is you'll have to study with them. If your parents really only care about the perception then you'll have to go through the whole ordeal that I did for years walking the line. The Richie Rich version of basically starting a huge argument and getting kicked out of the home is I feel a pretty stupid method. Especially those who want to stay in touch with their parents.
I wanted to say in the video but I needed to edit it for time that now it would be easier than ever because you have message boards you can discuss things with people, you have youtube, you can document your experience. There's alot more help out there now than there was when I was doing this. I wish I had the internet back then. I only had access at college when I was in the Phase III portion of the plan.

Yes I'm on my own now, I'm 29 married with a small daughter. Honestly I don't talk to my mother a whole lot, but it's better than alot of ex-JW's relationships with their parents. I see my mother at least twice a month and speak with her once a week, usually surrounding my young daughter. The JW thing is still kind of the elephant in the room we don't talk about though.
