Are you kidding, there's scriptural proof Jesus was gay
John 13:27 "And after the morsel then Satan entered into him. Jesus, therefore, said to him: “What you are doing get done more quickly.”
that's what elton john has said.
he was a super intelligent gay man.
i never knew that..

One last bttt for anyone who hasn't seen the survey.
despite being in what she insisted to me was "the best way of life" my oldest sister has a bad case of depression.. i know on here, jwn, we tend to almost laugh at the number of dubs who suffer from depression, and blame the cult , which attitude may have a good deal of truth in it, i still feel that i would like to help her in some way and do not know for sure how to.. getting her out of the cult is not going to happen, and any lessening of her blind faith i feel would be dangerous for her.. can any of you good folk on here offer any advice.
the trigger for her problem is the fact that her husband is seriously ill, and may not pull through, but i believe she must have an underlying problem that the present circumstance has brought to the surface.
and she needs to be a positive support for him at this time, and cannot be.. here in the u.k the family doctor tends to prescribe some pills and see how you get on, if you don't top yourself, you can go back and he might try some more or different pills, beyond that not much is offered.. ideas?.
Tell her to go see a psychotherapist. Regardless of whether she wants to stay in the religion or not, if she's depressed and you're worried you should try to get her some professional help.
Tell her that you're worried about her safety because you can see she's depressed, tell her that you'd like to see her seek some therapy for depression. If she asks about them trying to change her religion or whatever just tell her that usually they just talk about the root cause of the depression, if it's not the religion causing it then the religion will never come up.

A Quick bttt for those who might not have seen this thread.
hey everyone!.
i will be going into the hospital for surgery on tues...my first one ever!
the surgeon has gone over the procedure and informed me that it's 'bloody' and so she gave me all my options.
"Mom I appreciate your concern, I'm very comfortable with the doctor I chose for my operation and wouldn't feel comfortable changing the doctor at this late hour."
That would be the easiest response why you wouldn't go to the other doctor's office.
For the blood thing;
"I told the doctor my concern about getting a blood transfusion. The doctor assured me it would be a last resort. I'm going to accept a blood transfusion because it will only be of red blood cells if transfused which whole blood is made up of white blood cells, platelets, plasma and red blood cells. I'm not getting whole blood so my conscience tells me it would be OK to accept red blood cells transfused. It is a conscience matter whether or not to receive portions of blood right?"
That would be the most diplomatic answer to your mother regarding the blood transfusion. If she raises an issue about red blood cells simply say "At what point is blood no longer considered blood? Does it really boil down to the cell membrane between hemoglobin and red blood cells? Are you a scientist that can tell me exactly the point where blood is no longer considered blood, or better yet are you God to tell me when the scripture abstain from blood no longer applies when blood has been separated?"
That should pretty much end it.
in my research i have decided to go waaaay back.
so, one of the first things i did was look at the beginnings with regard to charles taze russell.. while this may be old news to many, this is indeed new to me.
and i want to tell this to the jws that are no doubt on here too.. you are an adventist sect.. without posting the expanded (very long) version of my research, i will post the basics that lead me to this conclusion.. how unique are jehovahs witnesses?
There are four religions that essentially believe the same stuff as Jehovah's Witnesses with very slight variations.
Associated Bible Students, Dawn Bible Students, Christadelphians, and Second Day Adventists. The only other one that can be loosely called the same would be Seventh Day Adventists.

Thanks so much everyone. Keeping this on the active list and hoping to get more people. I just surpassed the 100 mark and am starting to see some results from posting on Craig's List. I only hit up Providence and Boston too. I'm going to have to post it around the country to see what kind of results I get.
If anyone has any other ideas to get this survey out to the masses please don't hesitate to share :)

A quick thank you to everyone participating. Ex-Jehovah's Witnesses are such a non-conformist group that doesn't like to really be involved in anything, so it's really cool to see everyone get together just to put something as simple as putting data together.
Still going strong in the data department, I'm going to start posting on Craig's list to see if I can get some responses there. I was racking my brain trying to think of ways that I could reach those who don't usually frequent these sites or youtube, I figure that would be a pretty cool and easy way to do it.

perhaps posting it on a FB xJW page or making your own page and
then "sharing" it on xJW sites could get you a little more coverage
Thusfar I posted on I'm pretty sure 8 ex-JW facebook pages, I put up a video on youtube as well. I'm not sure where else I could post this to get more exposure. I'm pretty sure I'm rounding on the 200 surveys received thusfar. I know a few people from my old congregation that I'm friends with on facebook and I never see them on any boards, they're not part of any groups, I sent the survey to them through facebook but had I not specifically known them there's no way they would've seen the survey anywhere. That's the reason I'm asking for everyone's help, situations like that where you know of a person who is an ex-JW that doesn't go to boards, doesn't go to youtube, anything like that.
