It was actually an entire site with multiple pages of different studies, it was really cool. It was a kind of plain website though just tan with black lettering. I'll google that quote and see if I can find sites with that in it and hopefully I'll find the site I was looking for.

There is no happy endings for Jehovahs witnesses
by Star tiger init's sad too say that all of us good people that believed in a happy ending through justice that god would protect us, is a false promise, it us mere humans that make our lives and however we chose to lives this is our lot, no mystic new order or paradise earth, we make our own destiny!!!.

Of course there's no happy endings for Jehovah's Witnesses, they would never ask for one in a massage parlor. But us dirty apostates will always go for it! :)

" If evolution is true, what roll does religion play in human adaptation and natural selection and why would humans fight, kill, invest, deprive themselves and expend vast amounts of material and energy into building giant cathedrals and embarking on lengthy missions throughout our history??? Remember, nature selects AGAINST waste and extravagance. Environmental pressures should have weeded out the "god gene" long ago, or so it would seem..."
Actually that's a pretty easy one, what is the ongoing goal of evolution? Survival, right? What portrays itself as the ultimate means of survival by living forever either here on Earth or in Heaven? Religion.

I usually eat stuff like this up. I get all excited about going into a point-by-point refutation but then I think of all the effort that would take on my part and think it's not worth the time. Especially since this article is over two years old.

Is Deporting Illegal Immigrants The Answer To American's Economic Woe? What Do You Think?
by Scott77 in"... deporting the millions of illegal aliens in the united states will cost trillions and will make this country bankrupt; the beginning of slippery slope that eventually will destroy our country the working immigrants is part of the backbone of our country and they have always been and will always be.. i guess, you are blind to the myriad of studies concluding that immigrants benefits our culture and economy.
a study was released by the center for american progress (cap) that establishes that the enforcement-only approach these restrictionist groups ad-nauseam advocate isnt sustainable in the long-term.
the study estimates that a strategy aimed at deporting the nations population of illegal immigrants would cost the government approximately $285 billion over five years.

Nothing really new from me that probably hasn't been said before. I don't think we should immediately shift to deporting all illegal immigrants. I think the first thing should be done is levy big fines on those who employ illegal aliens. Once that's been established as a fairly heavy fine that people don't want to pay, then move to making it a bit easier to get a work visa. Then in combination with making it easier to get work permits and get a VISA then you can start deporting illegals. I think you need to make it so that there's only a few real steps to take in order to become legal and not make it impossible to be so, then the only real reason people would be illegal would be nefarious in nature.

so oompa got df'd this week...
by oompa inno call to invite me to a committee meeting...no notification of deciding i should be df'd....no telling my jw wife of the announcement...not a chance to appeal what i did not even know what was going on...my mini-serve son is devasted....he even researched it....told me to go to page 153-154 of the od book...never heard of it but it is a green hardback given to all who are to be baptized.
wow...the elders broke every rule in this book as to my case.... i have no respect for these men that can take away your jw family without even telling you they are going to.
my jw son has now begged me to meet with my committee...even though there is prob zero chance they can reverse the decision...that chance is from when they let you know...and you have to appeal by letter within 7 days (i cant make this stuff up!!

What do you want to do Oompa? Ultimately it's up to you on what you want to do, if you let this one ride then you can rest assured if they tried this hard to get you out of the org they won't be bugging you to come back. However if you feel the need to still be considered in good standing then I'd say appeal it.
You can push the line and ask to meet with them and tell them "I did not receive a whole blood transfusion I only received a blood fraction", if they ask what type you can tell them "I received red blood cells initially and then hemoglobin following that." If they press that a red blood cell transfusion could not be taken you could tell them, "It was explained to my wife by the doctor that the only difference between hemoglobin and a mature red blood cell is a cell membrane and that all the cell membrane being in tact helps with is a type of blood poisoning. My wife couldn't see the harm in my receiving red blood cells since the only difference was a cell membrane. So are you saying that you're going to disfellowship me over a cell membrane?"
That's if you want to push the line, if you don't you can always just plead ignorance. "My wife wasn't on the scene and my wallet along with my cell phone were destroyed in the crash. The doctors did what they could before my wife arrived to say I only was supposed to receive fractions. I don't know what they treated me with before-hand and quite frankly it was the least of my worries."
I don't really know what I'd do in your situation since I'm an anti-authority, prove-people-wrong type person. I think it would probably be easier to just let it go. I'll tell you though, having it on tape elders saying someone is disfellowshipped over a cell membrane would be one of the more damaging things in history to have online.

Moving On Means Never Speaking Out Need Help With Research...
by Tuesday inhey there everyone!.
i've been in a discussion with a few ex-jws about how to properly "move on" from being a jw.
they are saying that to truly "move on" it means you leave it totally behind you and stop dwelling/talking about being a jw.

Well its a good thing neither of us are professionals because I think we are talking past each other. You seem to be describing emotional dissociation and use of drugs or alcohol to resist all emotions such as what many with PTSD engage in, while I'm describing the informed and conscious effort to avoid negative thoughts and accept that we have a measure of control over unwanted emotions. I did qualify my comment by saying that "at a certain point" a person can avoid undue negativity by choosing not to think about sad or tragic events. The person must have at some point experienced the emotions and let them run their course, but there is no value in afterward wallowing in the emotions nor any merit in shoveling up the past triggering negative emotions which will always exist to some extent. Recognizing that emotions are something that we can manage to some extent and learning how to do it seems to be what therapy is all about. Anyway, I want to make clear that our attempts at consulting a therapist regarding leaving the JWs was a sad waste of time and noone should take my comments here as anything but the ramblings of a guy with an internet education.
The point I'm making is that how do you know when it's fully run it's course. I'm saying that if you're still feeling the hurt and negativity when simply discussing something from your past there's a good chance you're not fully over it.
I'll say that I'm not a professional therapist, my degree is in Creative Writing with a minor in Biology. I've taken a couple of psychology courses in college, what I do think I excel at though is thinking critically. So ask yourself, have you really "moved on" just because you decided to no longer talk about painful experiences or are you just falling into your former indoctrination that somehow that's how you're "supposed" to move on?
