All of sister Hoarders behavior aside, how did the representatives of "God's spirit directed" organization not know the conditions this woman was living in? No visits? No shepherding calls? If the woman was a special pioneer... even just a high-hour publisher, that would have the effect of putting her in the spotlight to some extent. How did all this go under the radar?

We Cleaned Out A Hoarding Pioneer's House and Discovered Boxes of Lies! What To Do?
by AuntConnie ini was doing some mild cleaning for one of the local hoarding witness sisters; her house was going to be condemned so we all got together trying to get her house in order because she does not have any worldly family willing to speak to her.
some of the friends decided they would try to guilt her family, her family was very blunt when they said to tell their sister to tell the stealing bitch to go and f-yourself!.
i got in touch with one of her local family members and he was more peaceful and explained why all his family members hated her.

some interesting quotes.... while it is wise not to believe everything we read in the news, it does not follow that there is nothing we can trust.
the key may be to have a healthy skepticism, while keeping an open mind.tone: when the tone of a news item is angry, spiteful, or highly critical, it suggests that an attack is under way and not a reasoned argument.sources: is there evidence of thorough research?

Did this make anyone stop and reminisce about the Human Apostates talk from this year's DC?

Do you have any "one-liners" for drive-by witnessing?
by Faithful Witness ini am looking for things i can say in passing, when i meet some of my jw friends.
we used to attend meetings, but have not been officially recognized yet, as apostates.
we were good and curious students, but fell away and were choked out by weeds.. since i will be renewing my bible student status soon, i am hoping this will open more windows into the organization.

I am 46. I just started a 401K three months ago.
Not long ago, while I was still "in", the topic of 401s came up between me and a coworker. He asked if I was plugged in and I said, "No. My retirement is already secured. No need for a 401." That probably left him with the impression that I had a secret pile of money stashed away somewhere. Actually, I knew that Armageddon would be here soon. No need to deprive myself of any portion of my paycheck now.
That was then.
I have done some forecasting and I am fortunate that I do not carry too much debt. If I behave myself I can be debt free in less than five years (mortgage in about 13 years) and then begin pouring all that money into IRAs, etc. I am also fortunate that I have a reasonably good paying job so the current, day-today needs are not a struggle. Not bad for someone who was able to avoid the temptation of a demonic higher education.
Forecasting is one thing. Life's curve balls are quite another and I am feeling a bit nervous. This is something I should have been taught and encouraged to begin 25 years ago. Retirement is not something you can just throw together at the last minute. ESPECIALLY in this financial climate.

The US Government actually deserves credit for the WT heading it's way down....
by EndofMysteries inthe government wanted the wt shut down as well.
they found out that the wt teaches all it's members not to get an education, not to get any good paying job, to spend all their time placeing magazines and being window washers.
so they said, we'll make the cost of insurance, infact require insurance by law, increase the cost of living on everything, then the wt members won't have any spare money to donate and the wt will just fade away due to lack of money.. so the wt after the economy and all cost of living going through the roof the past few years, plus some lawsuits, is suddenly cash starved.

I think your tongue-in-cheek thread title would be more apt if applied to, say... restaurants. People will stop going out to eat long before they will quit donating money to the institutions that will save them at Armageddon.
You make a good point about their own doctrine coming around to bite them in the butt. Their own teachings promote the development of a lower/lower middle class income group - and that's during the working years. This group will be in even worse shape later for lack of retirement planning due to the hope that Armageddon is right around the corner.
Then they try to subside off the crumbs of that group.

Given some of the drivel that passes for news worthiness these days, it absolutely amazes me that these stories are not gaining some significant headlines, if any at all. Has the Catholic pedophile scandal burned us out on the topic so thoroughly that the VFW Ladies Auxiliary 12th annual bake sale tops the news lineup?

Interesting stuff.
So how does a scripture like Hebrews 13:17 play in to this conversation?
Be obedient to those who are taking the lead among YOU and be submissive, for they are keeping watch over YOUR souls as those who will render an account...
... especially the part about these "leaders' rendering an account?
