Who Owns the Copyright to Crisis of Conscience?

recently there was a thread where someone asked if there was a copy of crisis of conscience they could purchase.

raymond franz it seems had limited resources yet he was able to provide crisis of conscience in printed form to what?

I've come to the conclusion that if Cynthia Franz really wanted Ray's books kept in the pipeline she would have appointed someone to make that so either in print or electronically.
... she made no plans to continue the publishing of his books or that perhaps Ray did not give her explicit instructions to do so.

With all due respect to Cynthia and the brilliant efforts of Ray, leaving no explicit instructions does not inhibit future action by those who see value in resurrecting the book in written form. If the book resides in the public domain then anyone can pick it up and start printing.

I wouldn't suggest just printing the book without doing due diligence in search of a copyright holder.

i am about 60% through the book exiting the jw cult: a healing handbook: for current & former jehovah's witnesses .

i bought this book because of a post about it last week so a big thank you for that.. i must say that everyone on this forum should consider giving this book a go.

I was just having a similar conversation recently but more along the line of Jesus being as good a GOD STORY as any other.

I am not willing to abandon my belief in God - whatever His definition may be. I also do not think I am qualified to scour the holy books and come up with anything other than just another version of almighty truth. SO, I have decided that the GOD IDENTITY is not relevant, that I can show respect to THE GOD via whatever mental image I may arrive at without offending Him.

JESUS is as good a GOD story as any and I will be happy to partake of the wine and bread on a yearly basis as my way of showing appreciation and respect. I don't think for a moment He gets his celestial girdle in a twist if we don't have the details about Him correct.

The details don't matter to me anymore.

There is going to be a transition phase here. The duties of the clerk's office now include issuing same-sex marriage licences. If you cannot perform all of those duties, don't apply for the job. It's that simple.

Sucks for the bigot that CURRENTLY holds the job.... but who cares?

I almost gave up today except for a girl her tried to throw herself infront of two cars.............

this may sound insane but i literally have blood on my hands as i have just come home from a counselling session that went wrong...i wanted to collate all that has happened and record it...hospital policy is against it.

i said "what am i alive for then if not to tell the truth" she tut tutted and i walked out sadly in despair.. when i got to the ground floor there was a young girl screaming her head off.

she was afraid, that is all she was...........afraid.

Please, help me to show the USA that a public inquiry into child abuse...

it needs to be done as soon as possible.. and i need you to help me.. i need someone, maybe more than one person, to draft a template, for a letter to the white house.. it has to clearly state that the usa is falling way behind many other countries, in terms of protecting children in institutions nationwide.. it has to make this clear: .

both australia and the uk (independent inquiry into child sexual abuse in england and wales, see here: www.csa-inquiry.independent.gov.uk/about-the-inquiry ) are currently investing large amounts of time and financial resources to research the best possible policies to protect children, across all institutions, religious and nonreligious.. they are working to expose the failures of various institutions, that have not reported child abuse, or have even covered it up... why are the united states of america not doing the same?!!.

If you are going to be a naysayer and put others off from even trying (there is always one or two that do this in any endeavour), please refrain from posting.

The only thing I would offer as a "naysayer" is that you not pin any hopes on a single letter to the White House. It will accomplish nothing. Even if it gets read by a live human, your letter will likely be perceived as coming from a disenfranchised fringe element (ex-JW) and tossed aside without consideration. Also, the White House gets tons of signed petitions every year. How will your single letter compete?

I'M NOT SUGGESTING THAT YOU NOT SEND IT! I am suggesting that you time your letter to be part of a groundswell on the issue - make it part of the choir of support from a variety of sources.

Would it not be a good idea to look at what led to the ARC being commissioned to do this investigation and who was key in doing this? Does anyone know or know how to find out? Perhaps email the ARC directly?

I was thinking about that too, HEAVEN. As amicable as the ARC seems to be about communicating with us via email, why not ask them directly what prompted them to act. Ask THEM for advise on how you might proceed? Hell, I would even try to solicit their help in sticking a bug in the ears of their American counterparts. They have done most of the leg work already and would be in a perfect position to guide any other government.

In addition to sending a single letter to the White House you may want to consider trying to garnish the support of state and national child advocacy groups as they already have the ear of the government.
