Did you take down notes at the meetings?
by JH inwere you the type to always jot down every little detail the brothers said from the podium?.
i found it amusing when especially sisters were always writting notes in their pads when the brother was giving a talk in the front.. i wonder if it was because they found the topic interesting, or because they wanted to look as if they were learning something.. i was all ears, but never took down notes.
that's odd, coming from a person who is "visual".

Do elders feel trapped once appointed?
by JH inwhen you become an elder, it's for life.
that's scary, because who wants all that responsibility?.
do you think that brothers with lots of responsibilities envy those that don't have any?.
-
Country_Woman
Being a woman, I was only glad I never ever could gain "responsibilities" but I know from a few others who changed congragation b'cos they did'nt get the opportunity to get this "privilege".
It demands on the question how important you feel when you are appointed I think. When there is nothing else in life to be important in.....
and Rocketman, obvious you had other interests as well - good to be out is'nt ?

Another Df'ing/suicide...in memory of a dear friend...
by Ghost of Esmeralda inthings have calmed down again with my mother to the point where i found myself once again in her kitchen last night.
drinking too many cups of coffee as i always do at her house, i imagine if i were a smoker i'd have been lighting one cigarette after another instead.
it had been a pleasant enough evening, i sat there with my crocheting in my lap, something i always take with me to my mother's house so that if i get nervous or stressed out, my hands, and my mind, have something to do and somewhere to go.

The Bear and the Atheist
An atheist was walking through the woods, admiring all that the "Accident of evolution" had created. "What majestic trees! What powerful rivers! What beautiful animals!" he said to himself.
As he was walking alongside the river he heard a rustling in the bushes behind him. Turning around to look, he saw a 7 foot grizzly bear charging towards him. He ran as fast as he could up the path. He looked over his shoulder and saw that the grizzly was closing in on him. Somehow he ran even faster, so scared that tears came to his eyes. He looked again and the bear was even closer. His heart was pounding and he tried to run even faster. He tripped and fell to the ground. He rolled over to pick himself up but the bear was right over him, reaching for him with his left paw and raising his right paw to strike him.
At that moment the atheist cried "OH, GOD!!!!!!!"
Time stopped.
The bear froze.
The forest was silent.
Even the river had stopped moving.
As a bright light shone down upon the man, a voice came out of the sky, "You deny my existence for all these years, teach others not to believe, and even credit creation to a cosmic accident. Yet now you call to me and expect me to help you out of this predicament? Am I to count you as a believer?"
The atheist looked directly into the light, "I am a man of principle and it would be hypocritical to become a Christian and ask for your help after all these years....but perhaps you could make the bear a Christian?" "Very well" said the voice.
The light went out.
The river ran.
The sounds of the forest resumed.
And then the bear dropped his right paw.....Brought both paws together.....bowed his hear and spoke: "Lord, for this food which I am about to receive, I am truly thankful....."
