independent thinking

Of course we must think independently.. my brain is in my skull, my brain is independent from yours and anyone else's brain. It operates separate from any one else's and has it's own unique and totally independent thoughts and ideas which I have more than enough of a challenge to control myself let alone letting someone other human that I don't even know and have never met control it.

What a ridiculous concept.

I don't think anyone at all rejects 'the truth'. Who in their right mind would ever do such a thing? What people and many here have rejected is what they believe and have found out to not be the truth at all. To keep naming it 'the truth' is to do the very meaning of that phrase a diservice.

hey i'm new here, i've been reading up so much here and on other sites about tatt and it has really settled a nagging feeling of doubt within me.

truly i have been lied to and have been trapped in this cult.

i've been suffering with depression, anxiety, attempted suicide, hospitalization, anti depressants, loneliness all this while being in supposedly surrounded by "the happiest people" on earth.

is it really true that jw children get gifts 'all through the year', not just for christmas and birthdays like non- jw kids?

as stingy as most jws are, i find that very hard to believe.

plus the childhood magic of christmas and birthdays is totally absent in jw households.

I myself used to take gifts and sweets and silly little presents and things for the kids, elderly ones, poor ones etc.. in the hall.. and the sheer look shock, embarrassment, uncomfortable expressions I got showed me that they were just not used to ever receiving anything from anyone.

Many parents were also embarrassed by my daft generosity because it highlighted that they themselves rarely gave spontaneous gifts to their own family members.

if there ever was any gift giving in the hall or out of it it was done with a whole lot of obvious pomp and ceremony and the giver made sure somehow that everyone knew about it.

The organisation the way they teach people to be about money and material things produces a society of people that are mean and stingy beyond imagination.

Good for you ?evything. All we can do is be honest and brave and true to ourselves in light of what we learn about that organisation which is that it is not, never was and can never be 'the truth'.

I saw kids hardly get a thing, unless it was as a reward for doing something the society wanted like pioneering. Then they were rewarded with nice ministry bag. Even a boiled sweet had to be earned by answering up or placing a mag. A simple biro for kids to scribble with during meetings was treated like it was gold.

The tightest group of people I have even come across even towards their own families. Material meaness to the extreme is all that I saw.

how can you leave god's organization to celebrate the work of satan the devil?

it just goes to show you how jehovah's christian witnesses are correct about how persons will leave the truth for their own selfish desires.. first off, christmas is a pagan holiday and it proves no spirit with the almighty jehovah and his son, the christ.

In a year of reading this forum I have not come across a single follower of Satan. Only people who have been hurt, abused, betrayed, deluded, dissapointed, let down, deceived.. but followers of Satan? Not a single one.
